Italy offers jaw-dropping scenery, superb restaurants and skiing that is amongst the best in the world. Skiing in Italy certainly has its unique flavour. Pistes are often quieter than the larger resorts in France, Austria and Switzerland, so you are sure to get plenty of great skiing in.

There are many fantastic ski resorts near the Dolomites. These resorts connect to form part of the famous Sella Ronda ski route. The top lift climbs to a phenomenal 3883m in altitude, so skiers will be pretty much guaranteed decent snow.

There are 48 Michelin-star restaurants to choose from. Yet it is hard to tell them apart from their lesser-known neighbours. Standards are so high throughout the area, that you’ll be reluctant at times to leave lunch and continue your adventure.

Rather than treating your dining as a separate après ski activity, you can enjoy a gourmet ski safari. This involves travelling the mountains to visit 3 to 5 Michelin-star chefs in one day and trying their best dishes. You will have the chance to discuss the dishes with the chefs, which makes this particularly appealing to food fanatics.

When is the Best Time to Visit Ski Resorts in Italy

In most ski resorts in Italy, the ski season starts in early/mid-December and runs through to around mid-April. Cervinia in Italy is one of the higher-altitude ski resorts and hence the ski season is slightly longer. In Cervinia, you can typically ski between October and May.
