In recent years ski chalets have been outdoing each other in their quest to be to best in the world. With each new mega-property created, they have strived to be more luxurious, more impressive and more stylish than the competition. It’s a constant game of oneupmanship.
The ‘bar’ for luxury ski chalets has been steadily rising. What was considered cutting-edge luxury 15 years ago, may not even make the top 100 today.
The competition for the top 10 positions is fierce as there are so many properties in our portfolio that are worthy contenders, so it has been tough whittling the shortlist down to just 10.
However, after much deliberation amongst the team, we have chosen our top 10 best ski chalets.
What does it take to qualify for a coveted spot in our ‘Top 10 Ski Chalets’ list? Just being a beautiful, luxurious chalet with plenty of facilities is not enough.
To be considered for one of the top 10 ultra-luxury ski chalets, a chalet needs to have everything turned up to 11.
Having incredible service from the team of staff is a given. Naturally it needs to have scale, giving plenty of space for its lucky guests. Then it needs to be in a prime location in a top ski resort. Of course, it needs to have every facility a luxury enthusiast might need for their week of skiing/relaxing/entertaining/partying. Then it needs to be impeccably designed with no expense spared. Every detail must be of the absolute highest quality.
But lastly, and perhaps most importantly, it needs to have the wow factor. It needs to knock you off your feet.
So which are the best luxury ski chalets in the Alps?
Here’s our list of the current ultimate luxury ski chalets – the Top 10 Best Ski Chalets in the Alps.

Chalet Zermatt Peak is a one-of-a-kind glass cathedral of a chalet. Perched high up on the mountainside with a commanding view over Zermatt, Chalet Zermatt Peak has become an icon of the resort.
The chalet boasts floor-to-ceiling windows throughout to make the most of those jaw-dropping views.

A relative newcomer to the ‘uber-chalet club’, Chalet La Fenice stands sentinel over the Italian resort of Cervinia and gazes up to the less familiar Italian side of the Matterhorn. The owner has painstakingly restored this old building and added every luxury in the book to make sure guests will never want to leave.

Sitting slopeside in Oberlech, Chalet Arula keeps a watchful eye over the village of Lech in the valley below. Finished with a welcoming warmth, Chalet Arula strikes just the right balance between ‘alpine cosy’ and ‘contemporary chic’, with no compromise on luxury.
Every square metre of this vast chalet is taken to the next level in terms of design. With a spectacular indoor pool and private nightclub in the basement, there is plenty to keep the chalet’s very lucky guests entertained.

‘Understated’ is not a word you would associate with Chalet Ultima in Crans Montana.
There is plenty of space to accommodate the whole entourage, with all the facilities you could wish for, all finished to the highest spec. and quality.

The beautiful Chalet 1551 is located ‘on’ a blue run, so you can ski to and from your door. But why would you want to leave? The chalet has every facility under the sun, including a beautiful indoor pool, as well as spectacular views over Lech from its elevated piste-side position.

Similar in style to the Chalet Ultima in Crans Montana, this ultra-luxury chalet is undoubtedly Megeve’s finest chalet. Designed to the nth degree, it certainly doesn’t lack the wow-factor.
Art Chalet really does need to be seen to be believed. It is called Art Chalet for a reason and it absolutely lives up to its name. As soon as guests walk through the front door, their jaws will be on the floor. Spectacular artworks adorn every wall so you will need to factor in some extra time to walk from your bedroom to breakfast, just to take it all in.
But it’s not just about the artworks. This ultra-luxury ski chalet also has the everything you might ever want – and then some. There’s a swim-up bar in the pool, plus a private night club, to name just a couple of its features.

Chalet N is a giant. Imagine an ultra-luxury hotel exclusively for you to enjoy and you are on the right lines. Ten bedrooms means you can invite your whole gang along to experience this exceptional property. However, its size doesn’t mean the luxury level has been diluted. Quite the opposite in fact. Chalet N will knock your socks off.
Chalet Marmottiere looks relatively normal* from the outside (*normal for an ultra-luxury ski chalet in Verbier at least) but inside, prepare to be blown away. The quality of design and finish is exceptional and the list of facilities is…well, exceptional. It has everything – a stunning swimming pool – of course. A fantastic cinema room – naturally. A casino room – yes. Dedicated gaming room – why not? Even a private bowling alley. You get the picture.
