At Firefly Collection we know that a fabulous ski break is the height of luxury, and we aren’t the only ones who think so. The world’s top celebrities, from Madonna to Taylor Swift to the British Royals, are all known for their love of the slopes.
It’s not uncommon to spot a famous face while on a skiing holiday, and for many catching a glimpse of a top celeb on the slopes is an extra thrill when whooshing down the pistes. With this in mind, we created our brand new Celebrity Spotting on the Slopes guide, mapping the most popular ski resorts among the A-list.
If you’re looking for inspiration on where to spend your winter ski break this year you can follow in the footsteps of these stars and enjoy your very own celeb-worthy luxury ski break, and with our handy map, you’ll know where to head to increase your chances of spotting a star on the slope.
Have a look at our map to find out which ski resorts are the most popular with celebs.
Through our research we found Verbier to be the most popular ski resort with celebrities. For those who know Verbier well it’s no surprise the lush resort is a favourite with the A-list. The popular resort located in Switzerland is known to be the most glamorous ski resort in the world and is loved by everyone from royals to rock stars and racing drivers. Sarah Ferguson owns a deluxe ski chalet in the resort, which reportedly cost £13million. Business tycoon Sir Richard Branson also owns an extravagant chalet in the area, which includes his own Michelin-star-trained chefs.
Regular visitors to Verbier include the Beckhams, Pippa Middleton, Prince William and Kate Middleton, Leonardo DiCaprio and Pixie Lott.
Also ranking highly among celebrity skiers is the Colorado resort of Aspen, which we found to be the second most popular ski resort with the A-list.
Celebs known to holiday in Aspen include Gigi and Bella Hadid, the Kardashians, Elton John, Mariah Carey and Kate Hudson.
In general, it appears that Verbier is the most popular ski resort with European celebrities, while US stars favour Aspen.
Other popular resorts include Gstaad and St Moritz, all in Switzerland.
To create our Celebrity Spotting on the Slopes guide we looked back over years of media reports covering sightings of celebrities skiing. We calculated the number of celebrities reported as visiting each resort to then rank the resorts from those who have the most celebrity visits to those with the least. We then used this data to rank each resort on our ‘celebometer’ scale and used this scale to create our shaded map.
Countries which are shaded as ‘red hot’ on our ‘celebometer’ scale have had the most reports of celebrity visitors while those ranked as ‘ice cold’ have had the least celebrities reported to be holidaying there.
We analysed which country was the most popular based on the combined amount of celebrity visitors across all resorts in each country.
We calculated which celebrities had been reported to be on a skiing holiday most often across all resorts, to find which celebrities you are most likely to spot on the slopes.
If you want to plan your own A-list ski break this winter have a look at our luxury ski chalets in Verbier.
If you don’t have the time to find the right one, or would just rather have our team of experts provide a list of properties that match your requirements and availability, simply get in touch, and we’ll do all the hard work.
