The ski area here is one of my personal favourites in the 4 Valleys ski area, as the pistes are usually quiet and there are some lovely tree-lined runs; always a good option if the visibility is not so good.
The size of the area means you can enjoy varied skiing from a luxury ski chalet here, from easy cruising blues to some of the best lift-served off-piste routes in Europe and the challenging mogul-filled descent or Tortin.
The 4 Vallées ski area includes the glamourous resort of Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz, Thyon, La Tzoumaz and a handful of charming smaller villages dotted around the ski area. The skiing itself is extensive, with over 400 km of pistes, so there is a huge range of options for all levels of skier, from novice to expert.
The ski season runs from mid-December to the end of April, however, the villages of the 4 Vallées are jaw-droppingly beautiful to visit in the summer months.
We love the quiet local slopes but with the endless world-class skiing of the 4 Vallées ski area on your doorstep.
Geneva airport is approximately a 1hr 45m drive away.
La Tzoumaz is at an altitude of 1550m and is regarded as one of the hidden gems within the 4 Vallees. It offers immediate access to the larger resort Verbier but doesn’t have any of the queues. This resort is peaceful with amazing ski conditions for all abilities making it a perfect luxury ski holiday destination for families, and will keep you coming back again and again. La Tzoumaz is orientated to the north, which ensures snow cover from early December through to April. It also has the gentle and sunny slopes on the south side of the mountain which are more suited to leisurely skiing and stopping for a few drinks along the way.
From the centre of Verbier, a cable car opens up the top of Mont Fort at 3330m. From here there are dramatic views of the Matterhorn, Grand Combin and Mont Blanc. In all, there are 35 ski lifts in the Verbier area accessing 33 ski runs and two snowparks – including Jardin de Neige, a relatively flat area popular with young children and beginners. If you are looking for off-piste skiing on a luxury ski holiday, Verbier is also well-known with famous runs including Tortin, Mont Fort, Stairway to Heaven, Rocky Garden and Col des Mines.
Veysonnaz is a mountain village typical of the Valais canton, situated on a slope above Sion with views of the Rhone Valley and the Bernese Alps. Take one of 11 ski lifts from your luxury ski chalet in Veysonnaz including a cable car which takes skiers up to 2100m, as well as the famous “Piste de l’Ours” chair lift and venue for Les 4 Vallées annual World Cup ski race.
The three villages of Les Collons and the ski centre of Thyon – at altitudes of between 1800m and 2100m – offer all the amenities you will need to make your time on the mountain a relaxing and memorable experience with a high-speed four-person chair lift in the centre of Les Collons taking you direct into Les 4 Vallées ski system. This resort has wide-open sunny slopes and a billabong snow park offering skiing and boarding for all levels. Other winter activities include sledge runs, husky rides, night skiing, ski touring and snowshoe walking. For families on a luxury ski holiday here, there is a kids snow village and beginners zone at Thyon staffed by specially trained instructors. Les Collons village offers a good choice of ski shops, restaurants and bars, hotels, nightclubs, supermarkets and bakeries.
To take your ski holiday in La Tzoumaz to the next level, book a private chalet. And if you want to book one of the best ski chalets, you want a luxury ski chalet. These chalets are better than any other accommodation in La Tzoumaz, ensuring you have the best holiday of your life.
