The little-known resort of Zürs is a hidden gem. It is located in the fabulous Arlberg region of Austria just beside Lech and St.Anton, Zürs makes the perfect launch point to ski all of these ski areas. This is one of the top ski areas of the world with plenty of options for beginners and experienced skiers alike on a luxury ski holiday in Zurs.

As part of the renowned Arlberg ski area (one lift pass covers you for St Anton, too), Zürs is a quiet resort with a vast amount of top-quality pistes, as well as fabulous off-piste terrain.
Zürs is on the White Ring circuit, connecting the small town to Lech, Zug and Oberlech via a series of lifts, cars and slopes, which a competent skier can complete in about two hours.
The entire Arlberg area encompasses St.Anton, Zürs, Lech, Oberlech, St.Christoph as well as Schröcken and Warth which are all accessible from one another on skis.
Skiing here is fantastic for intermediate skiers and there’s a good beginners’ area too, which is useful for children learning to ski. Zürs is known as a great luxury ski holiday destination for families and there’s plenty to keep little ones busy, both on and off the slopes, with a range of well-organised kids’ clubs.
Skiing a leisurely circuit of the White Ring, stopping for lunch in Lech and getting back to Zürs in time for early après ski drinks.
The nearest airport is Innsbruck which is 1 hr 25 mins away. Zurich airport is a 2 hr 20 min drive away and Friedrichshafen airport is 1 hr 50 mins away.
Zürs is part of the extensive Arlberg ski area and has an excellent snow record. There is an impressive array of local pistes, linking it to the higher village of Lech, and is known for its superb off-piste powder, and its challenging White Ring circuit.
A gondola lift with heated seats links the Lech and Zürs ski area with Warth-Schroken in the next valley, it is also possible to reach St. Anton on skis. Intermediate skiers have plenty of terrain to explore and those wanting to ski off-piste have various options, accompanied by fantastic snow conditions for those powder turns.
There’s a high proliferation of traditional Austrian restaurants, mostly in the luxury hotels of Lech, but once you’ve had your fill of rostis and steaks there are Italian outlets too, as well as Fux – a contemporary Asian restaurant.
The après and evening opportunities away from your luxury ski chalet are similarly small but top quality. We like Ambiente for après ski and Restaurant Seekopf for a tasty lunch with mountain-top views.
If you’re leaving your luxury ski chalet for your chef’s night off, The Lorunser Hotel has a great restaurant and for those in the mood for a late night, head to Zurserl, the club of the Edelweiss Hotel for sophisticated drinking into the early hours.
