Sainte Foy Resort Guide

The charming and picturesque village of Sainte Foy is scattered with traditional Savoyard wood and stone chalets, with many of the buildings dating back to the 17th century.

The convenient location of this relaxed ski resort means that you are just a short drive from the larger ski resorts of Tignes, Val d’Isère and La Rosière from your luxury ski chalet in Sainte Foy.

It’s oh so quiet… But oh so charming, and oh… the skiing. Sainte Foy is a pretty mountain hamlet in the Haute Tarentaise, built in the late 1990s and sympathetically and organically added to since then.

Popular with families and those who are here for the powder rather than the Jaeger bombs, this is a luxury ski holiday resort that is often overlooked but then that is its real charm – so don’t go telling everyone!

Nightlife is quiet but friendly here, and if you’re travelling with little ones or are all about the early nights in the comfort of your luxury ski chalet, a week in Sainte Foy would suit you brilliantly.

When to Ski in Sainte Foy

Sainte Foy is open for business from mid-December to mid-April.

What We Love About Sainte Foy

We love the peace, the lack of queues… and the untracked snow, often until quite late in the skiing day.

Getting to Sainte Foy

The closest airport to Sainte Foy is Chambery, approximately 1 hour 40 minutes’ drive away with Geneva approx. 2 hours 30 minutes away. Bourg St. Maurice train station is only around 20 minutes drive.

The Skiing in Sainte Foy

For beginners and little ones, there are good nursery slopes and a great ski school. When you want to move on, there are plenty of blue slopes as well as lots of accessible off-piste areas. The uncrowded nature of Sainte Foy makes it perfect for those just building confidence on skis on a luxury ski holiday.

Those who want to see lots of piste action have the option of travelling to the bigger ski areas nearby. Val d’Isere & Tignes for the Espace Killy and Les Arcs for the Paradiski areas are only a short drive away. But powder hounds will love what Sainte Foy has to offer on its doorstep and with excellent heli-skiing just over the border in Italy, no one will ever get bored here.

The Best Places To Eat and Drink in Sainte Foy

Nightlife is quiet and just a little more sophisticated than some of the bigger resorts. There aren’t hundreds of bars and restaurants but what’s there is good should you wish the venture out of your luxury ski chalet.
We like Black Diamond, a bar, restaurant and apres-ski venue at the foot of the La Bataillette piste.

For traditional Savoyard dishes such as magret of duck and Reblochons en croute, try Le Perce Neige, just outside the centre at Viclaire.

Sainte Foy has a good choice of mountain eateries ideal for lunch, too.
