Grindelwald is one of the original Alpine playgrounds for skiers and mountaineers. The region offers an array of thrilling activities, from skiing and snowboarding on the legendary slopes of the Jungfrau region to hiking and climbing among the dramatic peaks.
The Eiger Trail, in particular, winds its way through dramatic landscapes, offering jaw-dropping views of the Eiger North Face – a Mecca for climbers.
Grindelwald is a traditional, old-world Swiss village that encapsulates the alpine heritage and culture. Atmospheric wooden luxury ski chalets in Grindelwald dot the village, complete with flower-bedecked balconies (in summertime).
The village centre has plenty going on. Local eateries serve up authentic Swiss delicacies like fondue and rösti, providing a savoury immersion into traditional Alpine cuisine.
The view is dominated by the imposing sheer rock faces of the surrounding peaks, which include the famous North Face of the Eiger – the subject of many movies and documentaries.
Grindelwald is great to visit in both winter and summer. From December to April this alpine haven is transformed into a snow-laden wonderland. Summer, spanning June to August, unveils lush green landscapes, ideal for hiking, mountain biking, and exploring the region’s trails and stunning vistas.
We love the village which exudes an old-world charm. Strolling through its streets, one encounters boutique shops offering handmade crafts, local souvenirs, and cosy cafes perfect for indulging in Swiss chocolates or sipping on coffee while admiring the scenery.
Winter transforms Grindelwald into a skier’s paradise. With access to over 200 kilometres of ski runs catering to all levels, enthusiasts can carve through powdery slopes while being surrounded by the awe-inspiring Alpine scenery. The interconnected ski areas of Grindelwald-First, Kleine Scheidegg-Männlichen, and Mürren-Schilthorn ensure an abundance of diverse terrain to explore.
Zurich Airport serves as a primary international gateway. From here, visitors can seamlessly connect to Grindelwald via various transportation modes. While farther away, Geneva also offers access to Grindelwald.
In Grindelwald, dining becomes an immersive experience that marries Swiss tradition with culinary delights. Chalet-style restaurants and cosy cafes dot the village, offering an array of flavours to tantalize the taste buds. Indulge in traditional Swiss dishes like cheese fondue, rosti, and raclette.
From fine dining establishments serving gourmet delights to charming mountain huts providing hearty meals for skiers, complement your culinary journey with locally brewed beers, Swiss wines, and signature hot beverages while relishing the Alpine views that accompany every sip and bite.
