Luxury Villas > Caribbean > Barbados

If you are looking for a luxury villa in the Caribbean, the island of Barbados has it all. With everything from picturesque beaches to stunning natural landscapes and a vibrant culture. Barbados is one of the most popular Caribbean islands for a luxury villa holiday and it is clear to see why.

Barbados Region Guide

Whilst here be sure to visit the wild, wave-pummelled east coast and a plantation house or two hidden among the sugar cane fields of the interior. Then for a relaxing day on the beach head to the west coast where the sea tends to be calmer. There’s no better place to lie in the sun with a cocktail in hand and soak up the atmosphere of your luxury Caribbean holiday.

All the charm of a British outpost – plenty of cricket, afternoon tea and politeness, combined with the horizontally laid-back charm of the Caribbean, Barbados is a fascinating melting pot of cultures with a host of luxury villas offering a great base to explore from.

There’s something to keep everyone busy here on a luxury villa holiday, from world-class golf and watersports to fabulous gourmet restaurants and fascinating places of historical interest.

The garrison area is a UNESCO heritage site and well worth a guided visit, as are the plantation houses and sugar cane fields inland. After a visit to a stunning botanical garden, enjoy the contrast of the naturally wild east coast.

And of course, there are the beaches… more than 70 miles of palm-fringed stretches of sand and turquoise waters. Whether you want amazing surf conditions, still waters to snorkel and swim or just somewhere to lie all day with nothing but a book and your daydreams, with Firefly Collection’s numerous beachfront luxury villas, you are sure to find your perfect beach in Barbados.

When to Visit Barbados

The dry season falls from mid-December to mid-April, offering blue skies and hot days averaging at 30°C. From June to November Barbados experiences short sharp showers in the afternoon, and can experience hurricanes in September and October.

What We Love About Barbados

We love spending a day at Crane Beach with its pink sand and backdrop of palm groves and limestone cliffs, regularly voted one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. As the evening draws in head to dinner at the nearby Zen Japanese and Thai restaurant, which offers private dining overlooking the sea.

The Best Places to Eat and Drink in Barbados

The food scene in Barbados is rich and quite unlike anything else you’ll have experienced. The seafood is exquisite, but there are several local delicacies you must make time for at least once during your stay on a luxury villa holiday in Barbados.

Top of the list is flying fish, which accounts for more than half of all the fish landed on the island. Whether barbecued, served in a sandwich or with the traditional ‘cou-cou’, it’s a unique dish that sums up the island on a plate.

There are lots of options for eating out away from your luxury villa. For contemporary fusion cuisine, Daphne’s on the West Coast is worth a look, with Italian and Caribbean flavours woven into a really interesting menu.

For a truly fabulous setting, try The Cliff in St James – seafood and Asian influences perched atop a cliff. Or for a view inland, Naniki is nestled in peaceful countryside on a nature resort – less peaceful during the Sunday jazz buffet but not to be missed!
