Traditional Savoyard style, with a modern twist, is what makes 21 The View a real gem. This luxury ski-in/ski-out chalet in Chatel is actually a duplex apartment but the sheer space and light makes it feel so much bigger than its two storeys.
The living room is at the heart of the property. There, brightly coloured velvet sofas and armchairs are gathered around a contemporary fireplace. The roaring fire, reclaimed wood and natural stone all bring a bit of the great outdoors in, and the living space is a wonderfully cosy place from which to appreciate the snow falling outside.
Nearby is a dining space with refectory-style table and designer chairs, the area lit by statement lighting, making it the perfect backdrop for relaxed meals with friends and family. Between the two is an elegant grand piano, where perhaps one of your party might tinkle out a tune at the end of dinner.
The well-equipped kitchen also has an elegant bar area where guests may chat to whomever is playing chef for the night, while enjoying a glass or two of wine.
Both comfort and high-tech equipment have been considered here, with Sonos sound and huge flatscreen TVs complemented by squishy beanbags and cosy throws. There’s lots to entertain everyone after skiing time, from the separate comfy TV room where you can put your feet up in front of a film for the afternoon, to the bubbling hot tub out on the terraces.
Before you turn in for the night, to cosy beds and spa-style bathrooms, spend a moment or two out on the balconies, enjoying the mountain air and the view and getting ready for a brand new day.
This luxury ski chalet in Chatel is in an enviable ski-in/ski-out location, backing onto the Super Chatel ski slopes.
The centre of Chatel is 60 metres away via the piste, however to note that some of the journey is off-road, and with snow cover.
What was once a farming village is now one of the world’s best-regarded ski resorts, with a magic mix of snow surety, and a huge ski area to explore in the Portes du Soleil domain, including more than 650km of pistes across two countries.
The closest airport is Geneva, approximately 1hr 45mins drive away.
