Time seems to stand still at Argentaia Estate, Tuscany, a spot so special and serene it was once a sacred monastery. Today, this exclusive walled-castle estate has been artfully reimagined and restored by local artisans, who crafted each element by hand over the space of a decade. Famous art adorns the walls, the finest sculptures stand tall in the courtyards and a spectacular infinity swimming pool appears to float above the rolling green hills. It’s no wonder it’s been featured in a number of high-end glossy magazines.
This luxury villa in Tuscany is a place to slow the pace and appreciate the good things in life. Spend your time meditating in one of the property’s peaceful nooks as the scent of lemons lingers in the air, tasting local wines and olive oils, and exploring lesser-visited medieval villages. Head out on a walk from your doorstep and you may just come across horses, roe deer and even porcupines.
The castle living quarters are unashamedly grand, but the rooms above ground are also surprisingly light – the fireplace hall-come-living room is a wonderfully lofty space that manages to be cosy, too. Bedrooms here are fit for a King or Queen, with plush bedding, huge ornate fireplaces, high ceilings and windows showcasing the views over the Tuscan countryside.
At sunset, take drinks out to the swimming pool deck and watch as the rolling hills are bathed in orange light, as though you’re surveying your very own kingdom.
Argentaia Estate sits in an elevated spot in the Maremma region, overlooking the Tuscan countryside and surrounded by vineyards, forests and olive groves. You’re well placed to explore sandy beaches and visit the medieval villages of Magliano, Talamone, Pitigliano and Pereta. The closest village and seaside is under a 10 minute drive from the estate.
Transfers from Rome’s Fiumicino airport take approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. There’s also a helipad for easy access.

Your stay at Argentaia Estate comes with the services of a private chef, who will whip up delicious Italian feasts in the contemporary stainless-steel kitchen. Take a seat around the large table and watch as local creations are brought to life, with fresh produce gathered from nearby olive groves, orchards and vegetable gardens.
For a special occasion, the estate has its own vaulted wine cellars, offering a unique space for wine tastings and dinners in the castle’s secret passageways.
Please note that the cost of food and drinks will be charged for separately, allowing the chef to tailor menus to your exact requirements.
If you plan to head out for lunch, you’ll find some excellent trattorias in the local medieval villages – just ask your chef or one of the team for recommendations.

Children will love having their very own castle. The sense of space, both indoors and out, is the big draw here, and modern additions such as table football and an underground cinema room will go down well with teens.
The very large swimming pool is an idyllic space for splashing around or swimming laps for burning off any left over energy. The nearby seaside is an additional bonus for days out.
The private chef will be able to cater for early mealtimes to suit younger palettes, leaving the grown-ups to linger over leisurely evening meals.
