Meanwhile six spacious bedrooms and their impressive marble bathrooms ensure the villa is every bit as grand as you’d expect in a castle. Across the gardens a smaller annex building features four equally beautiful bedrooms and a second kitchen and lounge.

It couldn’t be easier to reach your luxury villa, as Florence airport is a 2-hour drive away, whilst the airports of Pisa and Rome are a 2 hour and 30 minute drive away.
Closer to home, Umbria’s capital city of Perugia is just a 20-minute drive away and offers a wealth of cultural and foodie activities.

Since Castiglione Ugolino is part of a private estate, you will have access to a variety of dining options during your stay here.
Of course the villa and annex both have kitchens, so you can enjoy plenty of cooking, with sunset dinners out on the terrace a particular highlight. Alternatively, if you prefer to have the hard work taken care of, the estate concierge can arrange for experienced chefs to come in and prepare a feast at any time of day.
For something more special, you could venture out to the estate’s Il Caldaro restaurant and indulge in traditional Umbrian dishes with a modern twist.
During your stay, you’ll also want to take advantage of your enviable location amongst the vineyards and fertile countryside, and enjoy a wine tasting or cooking class, both of which can be organised on the estate. For a true taste of Tuscany, embark on a truffle hunt on the estate and taste the diamonds of the culinary world with an Aperitivo. There is even an Orangerie Bar and wine cellar for when you can only manage a drink.

Kids
Older children will adore Castiglione Ugolino. Its space and greenery are the perfect setting for endless games of hide and seek, and the swimming pool is an obvious focal point for boisterous water babies. Plus, several comfortable lounge areas with smart TVs mean the kids will remain happily entertained even when the sun goes down.
Although Castiglione Ugolino is not necessarily set up to cater for toddlers, with its hard floors and multiple levels, baby cots, high-chairs and baby bathtubs can all be organised on request. So, with some supervision, parents should feel confident in bringing their little ones on holiday here.
