Set in a quiet part of town, this luxury ski chalet in Val d’Isère is a brilliant base for exploring one of the world’s best ski areas and a great property to host a group of friends or family. Chalet 1855 sleeps 12 people (including four children) but can be booked alongside its sister property, Chalet 1850 (subject to availability), to accommodate up to 24 with linked access through the shared garage.
The heart of the property is the open-plan living space on the top floor. Flooded with light and boasting cathedral-style vaulted ceilings and huge windows on three sides, this is a wonderful place to relax with friends. The sitting room is decorated in neutral and grey tones for a calming feel, with plenty of blankets and faux fur throws to cosy it up. Rough-hewn wooden beams bring a modern-rustic style to the space. Capacious sofas and an open fire make this the perfect spot to sprawl with the rest of your party and catch up on everyone’s mountain adventures.
Nearby is a cosy dining space to seat 10 people, lit from above by statement lighting along the same Alpine theme. Adjacent to this is the modern kitchen which is well-kitted out should you choose to cook for yourselves, and also has a sociable island area where you can sit with a glass of wine and watch your chef at work.
On the second floor you’ll find 1855’s beautiful spa area, which includes a swimming pool, indoor Jacuzzi and sauna as well as a relaxation area and massage room. After a long morning on the slopes, there’s nothing like a couple of hours in the spa to have you feeling fresh as a daisy again and perk you up in time for evening bubbly and canapés. Or you might prefer to slip into your comfies and settle down with popcorn in front of a movie matinee in the stylish cinema room or the cosy TV snug.
The practicalities are all considered, too, with an office area, garage and laundry room all on site to make day-to-day life easy for you all.
At the end of each day you’ll find each of the five bedrooms, with their Alpine style, plush soft furnishings and spa-style bathrooms a wonderful place to wind down before you fall asleep.
