Snuggled at the foot of the mountains, Chalet Alaska is a luxury ski chalet in Chamonix that provides a beautiful base for a group of friends of family.
Modern rustic woods and stone and a neutral palette create a relaxing backdrop in this spacious, light and airy chalet.
Each of the five bedrooms has its own en-suite bathroom and TV, so if you feel you need a bit of time to yourself, you can treat it like your own hotel room.
But this is a property made with socialising in mind. At the heart of Chalet Alaska is a huge, statement fireplace, with vast chimney escaping into the roof. There’s room for your whole party to gather round the fire here, either for big celebrations or simply quietly marking the end of each day. Sofas are gathered all around and floor-to-ceiling windows under a vaulted roof give you picture postcard panoramic views of the mountains as you sit and chat to friends over a few glasses of bubbly.
Adjacent is a wonderful and well-equipped kitchen area, and alongside that a spacious but welcoming dining room, with refectory-style dining table and views of the mountains; an idyllic spot for a convivial dinner of fine wines and excellent food.
There’s also a separate TV area where the kids can chill out while the grown-ups chat in the evenings, or for you to escape to for a film on a snowy afternoon.
Outside, there’s a delightful garden and a large south-facing terrace where you can enjoy your morning coffee in the sunshine, and relax in the outdoor hot tub with a glass of bubbly when you return from the slopes in the afternoons.
In the evenings, sneak out here to enjoy the mountain air with a nightcap, and bid goodnight to the mountains, looming over Chalet Alaska, keeping watch until morning.
For larger parties, Chalet Alaska can be taken alongside one or two of its sister properties, Chalet Saphir (5 bedrooms) and Chalet Azurite (6 bedrooms), perfect for multiple family groups or a corporate trip.
Chalet Alaska is part of an exclusive hamlet of three luxury ski chalets, perched just at the entrance to Chamonix’s town centre and a short walk to the shops, bars and restaurants.
The front door is just 300 metres from the beginner’s slopes at Le Savoy, from where you can access the entire Le Brévent – La Flégère ski area.
The nearest airport is Geneva which is just over an hour’s drive.

If you choose to stay in Chalet Alaska on a self-catered basis, a pre-arrival shop can also be arranged for you to ensure you have some essentials in before you arrive.
And you will almost certainly want to make the most of Chamonix’s lively restaurant scene. We especially like Le Matafan for its culinary wizardry and Les Canailles Chamonix for its wonderful, seasonal food. The infamous La Folie Douce Hotel is also just around the corner, the perfect spot for après ski plus plenty of restaurants to chose from.
