One word: expanse. Chalet Choucas Noir in Val d’Isère is all about space. Space to play, space to relax. Space inside by the roaring fire, space outside on the sunny balcony.
This apartment’s living area is punctuated in the middle by a broad chimney breast that divides the lounge and dining areas, with room for a cheeky pool table in between. Elsewhere there’s a TV snug complete with home entertainment system as well as a steam and massage room for a little indulgence post-skiing.
While there’s plenty of space to play, eat and relax, Choucas Noir manages to feel intimate and cosy, too. Its hotchpotch of different wood textures, rough stone walls and striking modern finishes (silver tiling in the bathrooms, cool mosaic in the sauna) fills the place with personality, both classically Alpine and pleasingly contemporary. Driftwood sculptures and cow skin pouffes add the final frosting to this impressive cake.
Playing pool will be a challenge, with the magnificent mountain views to distract you from the table, which is situated next to the wide balcony that runs the length of the property. Catching a few rays out here is a real possibility, or at the very least, a hot toddy and some star-gazing before bed.
Bedrooms are plush and welcoming, many with access to another balcony, and all with en-suite facilities. The kitchen is perfectly kitted out for budding cooks – but with the option of a private chef, you might decide to stay out of it completely.
Choucas Noir is the ideal chalet for those looking for a great social space. And with Val d’Isère’s many shops, restaurants and après-ski haunts just a stone’s throw away, the party can easily continue outside its walls, too.
Chalet Choucas Noir is perfectly positioned in the centre of Val d’Isere, meaning you have all of the shops, restaurants and facilities on your doorstep and the nearest slopes are just 200m away.
Chambery airport is just under 2 hours drive and Geneva airport is approximately 3 hours drive away.

With a superb kitchen just next door to the living area, those with culinary skills may be tempted to play chef for the week, but you also have the option of a private chef to do all the work for you.
This means freshly baked cake and tea when you get back from the slopes. Delicious canapés and cocktails before dinner. Gourmet dining every night served up with fine wines. And a reviving breakfast the next morning, pre-skiing. All in all, a pretty fabulous convenience when your priority is spending time on the slopes.
Your chef will tailor the menu as you desire, and serve up when you like – it’s all up to you. And if you have children who’d like high tea instead of eating with the adults, this is easily done too.
Alternatively, if you feel like venturing out of your luxury ski chalet in the evenings, you couldn’t be better placed at Chalet Choucas Noir with the bars and restaurants of Val d’Isere on your doorstep.
