Chalet Doss is a luxury ski chalet in the Dolomites that has a little magic about it. Firstly, it’s situated in a stunning and peaceful location, just outside the town. Sit quietly on the veranda and you’ll hear the babbling of water just behind the property and the leaves whispering in the breeze as you gaze out over forests and meadows. There are few ski chalets where you can be so close to the action and also surrounded by nature.
Step inside, and you feel like you’ve walked into a fairytale Gingerbread cottage. Chandeliers hang from a vaulted wood ceiling, cosy leather armchairs are gathered around an enormous fireplace and a rustic wooden table is surrounded by beautifully carved chairs, where you can relax over long, leisurely meals prepared by your chef.
Picture windows look out onto the forests and the snow and make you feel as cosy as can be, tucked inside on comfy sofas under warm throws and blankets, after a day out on the slopes. Should you need warming through before you take to the sofa with your blanket, you might like to have a dip in the outdoor hot tub with built-in hydro massage to soothe any aching legs picked up on the slopes. There’s also a wellness area downstairs with Jacuzzi and sauna, where you can happily while away an afternoon letting go of all your worries.
On snowy afternoons, escape to the games area for a game of pool, a film or a Playstation tournament in the TV room, as you wind down before the evening begins in earnest. Dinners are a bit special here, and you’ll want to be well rested to make the most of your chef’s fabulous local, seasonal menus.
After dinner, we recommend you take your drinks out onto the terrace to watch the stars and listen out for the rustle of local wildlife and perhaps spot the odd badger or owl, just getting up for the night.
When you retire to your bedrooms, you’ll find each en-suite room is uniquely decorated in its own style. But each has a simple, luxury feel with Scottish linens and beautifully crafted beds and mattresses that ensure the deepest of sleeps.
This luxury ski chalet in the Dolomites is hidden away down a lane at the edge of the village with uninterrupted views of forests and meadows and with the River Sarka bubbling just beneath. It’s situated just a 7 minute drive from Madonna di Campiglio, a fabulous ski area comprising 156km of slopes and 61 ski lifts.
You’ll have an in-resort driver service whisking you to the local ski lifts or into Madonna di Campiglio with all its Michelin-starred restaurants, bars and nightclubs.
The nearest airport is Verona, approximately 2hrs drive away.

Good food and fine wines are as much a part of the experience here at Chalet Doss. There is a strong belief that food should be as local and as seasonal as possible – the chalet owners are proud that the fresh butter on the chalet’s table changes colour by season, depending on what the cows are eating!
Help yourself to breakfast in the mornings, from plates of bread, pastries, eggs and cheese and the steaming coffee machine. Definitely don’t miss out on the Krapfen – the local and much superior sister to the donut! When you return from the slopes, afternoon tea waiting to be devoured.
In the evenings, the Prosecco is opened around the fire and antipasti plates, piled high with treats from the local farm, are shared round, while your chef prepares a three-course hearty Tyrolean dinner. The fare is simple, filling and delicious – think rustic pasta and meat dishes, followed by strudel and mountain cream. But the chef is always keen to cater for any dietary requirements, or just prefer lighter food in the evenings, you have only to say.
Complimentary regional wines are served with dinner, as well as a traditional grappa after pudding. Prosecco from a small indie label and a local beer are both on tap, too. If there are any wine, champagne or gin connoisseurs among you, the chalet’s private cellar stocks lots of bottles to appeal to everyone.
On the chef’s two nights off, there are several wonderful eateries in nearby Madonna di Campiglio. The staff are also happy to organise fine dining experiences for your party, including a night at the rifugio of the local farmer up the mountain, where you can try traditional Dolomite dishes with a wonderful view, under the stars.
