Alpine retreat meets country manor in this luxury ski chalet in Meribel. Antique furniture, beautifully aged leather armchairs and experienced staff bring an atmosphere of quiet and calm to this cosy chalet, tucked away behind the town.
The seven bedrooms are individually and thoughtfully decorated in calming neutrals and country checks, making for a really relaxed feel. Fluffy robes and slippers and luxury bath products make the rooms a real retreat at the end of the day.
The communal areas are equally lovely. The furniture and furnishings all feel casual yet reassuringly expensive. The main living area is a real home-from-home, where you and friends will gather to sip on-tap champagne alongside canapés in the early evening, or lounge with a digestif or three after a fabulous four-course dinner in the cosy dining area.
The space is mostly open-plan but includes a siting area, a library, a dining space, a TV snug and an imposing fireplace, giving everyone plenty of room to socialise together and relax in smaller groups, too.
Fabulous facilities are what really makes this chalet – with hot tub hewn from ancient stone, sauna, gym, games room and cinema…everyone is catered for.
In short, everything you could hope for is sorted for you at Chalet Foinsbois. Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to indulge in as much of the complimentary bubbly and fine wine as possible, but retain a clear enough head to remember what a fabulous time you had at the end of it!
Chalet Foinsbois is located in Meribel Village, two minutes’ walk from the piste and Golf chairlift which takes you to Meribel, the altiport and Courchevel. You’re able to ski back to the chalet for most of the season (snow conditions permitting). The main Chaudanne lift hub and Meribel resort centre is approx. 10 minutes drive away.
The nearest airports are Chambery which is 1h 15m away, Lyon 1h 55m and Geneva, a 2h 10m drive away.

Visitors return year after year to this chalet for the eating as much as the skiing. Every meal is taken seriously here, and children are well catered for, too.
Each morning you’ll enjoy a healthy breakfast of jambon cru and eggs, alongside freshly baked croissants, breads, fruit salads and yoghurt and cereals.
In the afternoon, you’ll step back through the door of the chalet to find afternoon tea waiting for you, but don’t overindulge on the homemade cakes and biscuits as dinner is definitely the highlight. Whilst your chef prepares your four-course meal (on five evenings), you’ll drink Champagne and nibble on fun and inventive canapés.
A family-style dinner is offered one night, giving you a more relaxed dining experience and try a traditional Savoyard dish such as fondue or raclette, or enjoy a home-cooked comfort food. You’ll then have one evening to sample the local restaurants and your chalet host will be more than happy to make recommendations and bookings.
To complement your food, there is a fabulous wine list. The chalet’s wine supplier deals mainly with very small winemakers to bring you really interesting wines you may not have tried before.
Your chef will be happy to do an early evening children’s tea to suit your little ones’ bedtimes and so that you can relax and enjoy your evening meal in peace.

Younger guests are just as important here as the adults. There’s a lovely children’s bunk room, where they’ll feel cosy and sleep well at night.
Four of the main bedrooms are large enough to accommodate a cot if your party includes a baby, nannies can be arranged on request and on the chef’s night off a complimentary babysitting service is available, to allow to enjoy an evening out on your own.
Your private chef is adept at creating enticing menus for children, which can be served earlier in the evening if you wish.
There’s so much to do in the chalet for children. Slightly older children will be impressed by the TV room, games room and extensive collection of books, games and DVDs and adults will no doubt enjoy the peace and quiet all the entertainment on offer brings!
