Chalet Fourmiliere is a charming one-of-a-kind property. Gracious hosts and owners Alex and Tom – who truly know Morzine inside-out – have created a stunning space that pays homage to its 1805 Savoyard farmhouse origins while oozing the vibe of an English country mansion. It’s traditional and homely with a side of fun and frolics – perhaps best summed up by the glittering giant chandelier that adorns the ceiling of what was once a cow stall.
The personal approach is clear throughout this luxury boutique ski chalet in Morzine, from the handpicked art to the free-flowing recommendations and extra touches like snack provisions for when you’re out on the slopes. You can even choose your own scent for your stay courtesy of a fragrance tray created by the in-house perfumer.
Indulgence comes in many forms here: sinking into custom Timothy Oulton Chesterfields by the huge roaring fireplace, gathering around the table to tuck into four-course dinners featuring the likes of succulent venison and moreish Chartreuse chocolate, and soaking in the hot tub with a glass of Champagne in hand (with the rest of the bottle keeping cool in the snow for icy top-ups).
Bonus spaces include a games room for a few competitive rounds of pool, a mezzanine library where you can curl up with a good book under a thick blanket and the tranquil therapy room. After a fulfilling day, drift off to sleep in one of the six comfy en-suite bedrooms, and dream of doing it all over again.
Chalet Fourmiliere is situated on the outskirts of Morzine. It’s a five-minute drive from the resort centre, so it’s easy enough to explore the bars, restaurants and shops – although we imagine you’ll be tempted to spend all of your non-skiing time back at the chalet.
In-resort transport is provided courtesy of the chalet’s minibus or Land Rover (up to 10am and 4-7pm), to take you to your choice of local ski lift in the morning and pick you up at the end of the day. There’s also a bus stop a two-minute walk away where you can jump on a free bus to the ski lifts.
The nearest airport is Geneva, just 1hr 15mins away.

Wonderful food and drink is a key part of the luxury experience at Chalet Fourmiliere.
During your stay, you’ll wake to the aroma of a freshly cooked breakfast to tempt you out of bed and top up your energy levels for the morning. When you come in from your day’s skiing, tea, coffee and hot chocolate will be ready for you with homemade cakes and savoury treats.
Evenings are an occasion to remember. Kick off with canapés and aperitifs around the roaring fire – the house bar here features one of the best gin collections in the Alps. Then sit down to a delicious four-course dinner served by your chef and accompanied by fine wine. Sample dishes might include venison with savoy cabbage, caramelised apple and onion tarte tatin, or duck breast with butternut squash. Be sure to request a French night with fondue.
If that’s not enough, you’ll be able to dip into the sweetie and cookie jar at any time, and take a welcome hip flask and snacks with you to the slopes.
As is typical of a ski chalet stay in France, cooked breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner is served five days a week, with a continental breakfast provided on two days.

Chalet Fourmiliere makes family ski holidays as effortless as possible. Your hosts are an extra pair of hands (and minds – helping to make sure that gloves and ski passes aren’t left back in the boot room!) and their local knowledge means you’ll have access to the best ski schools and childcare.
In the chalet, travel cot, high chair, games and DVDs can all be arranged. On five evenings, your chef will happily provide a children-approved high tea for younger guests, leaving you free to fully enjoy the delicious grown-up dinners.
