Luxury self-catered ski chalets don’t come much more welcoming than the beautiful Chalet Gaia in Megeve. Combining a traditional alpine exterior with a stylish yet homely modern interior, it’s a restful countryside cocoon. The mountain views here are so glorious that it’s hard to tell whether you’re looking out of a window or at a painting in a frame.
After a day on the slopes, return to the toasty boot room to change out of your gear, then head up to the bright and airy lounge to relax by the contemporary log burner. The open-plan layout makes this a sociable chalet and the glossy kitchen is everything you’d hope from a self-catered property. You’ll find all the mod cons needed to rustle up family feasts, with plenty of space for guests to gather around or spill out onto the sun-drenched terrace in the treetops.
Children and adults alike will love the cool games area, where you can team up for competitive games of billiards or pinball machine fun. There’s also a bar here, so you can pour a refreshing drink without taking your eyes off the game. For total relaxation, soothe any weary limbs in the sauna or unwind in the Hammam.
Cosy alpine-style ensuite bedrooms provide a soothing space to sleep. The five-bed dorm is a lovely room for children, and they’ll be welcomed by a teddy almost as big as they are.
Chalet Gaia sits in a quiet spot close to the Mont d’Arbois ski lift. It’s just a few minutes from the idyllic centre of sophisticated Megeve, where you’ll find designer boutiques, delicious patisseries and top restaurants.
Transfers from Geneva airport take approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.

Megeve has lots of excellent places to eat, so be sure to sample the local Savoyard flavours as well as a range of other cuisines from Italian to Indian. Pre-booking is recommended, especially at Megeve’s mountain restaurants, and the chalet’s in-resort concierge service can assist with any reservations.
If you prefer, a private chef, with meals designed by two-Michelin-star chef Julien Gatillon, can be arranged at an extra cost. Your chalet chef will cook up delicious breakfasts, afternoon teas and three-course dinners with cheese and complimentary wine pairings.

Megeve is a great ski resort for families. Quiet and picturesque yet not remotely sleepy, you’ll find indoor and outdoor skating rinks as well as a large leisure centre where children can swim, climb and play tennis.
