Standing in a private orchard, this chalet offers bags of privacy. For those who like to party, the vibrant resort of Meribel is approximately 20 minutes drive away but once you’re back at your chalet, fire roaring, glass of Champagne in hand, you get a real sense of calm out here in Le Villard.
A large, suspended fireplace makes a dramatic focal point for the open-plan main floor. There are two relaxed seating areas close to the fire, a light, bright kitchen where you can watch your chef at work in the evenings, and a long, refectory-style dining table, handmade in oak, just made for leisurely meals that stretch long into the evening.
On the next floor you’ll find a cinema room, where you and your party can get together for a film, or any children can entertain themselves happily while the grown-ups chat downstairs. Apple TV, Sky and a DVD library all mean that you’ll never be short of viewing material here. There are also stacks of board games if you fancy a more traditional evening of fun around the fire, and lots of reading nooks where you can enjoy a quiet moment to yourself. This floor also opens out onto the Jacuzzi terrace, the perfect place to spend the late afternoon, soaking in the hot tub soothing aching limbs.
Each of the bedrooms is individually designed for a luxury home-from-home feel and each has its own private or en-suite bathroom stocked with L’Occitane goodies, to make every bath or shower a bit of a treat.
In the evenings, after dinner, we thoroughly recommend you take your digestifs out onto the balcony to enjoy the mountain air and fabulous views – the lights twinkling in the little villages around you and the looming shape of the Grand Bec mountain range in the distance. Simply breathtaking.

Chalet Iona is located in a peaceful hamlet of Le Villard within private orchards, and has fabulous views across 13 villages looking out to the Grand Bec mountain.
The chalet is approx. 10mins chauffeured drive to the nearest Olympie telecabine at Les Allues and approx. 15-20mins drive to Méribel.
The nearest airports are Chambery (1hr 15mins away) and Lyon (1hr 55mins). Grenoble and Geneva are both around 2hrs away.

Dining
Food is definitely a highlight of a stay at Chalet Iona, with highly experienced chefs serving dishes that would turn heads in some of the world’s top restaurants.
Each morning you will set the tone for the day’s eating with a leisurely breakfast, perhaps starting with a freshly made smoothie or fruit/vegetable juice. As well as an array of cereals, porridges, jambon cru, cheeses, fruit and freshly baked breads and pastries there’s also a hot dish each day, from Eggs Royale to a good old English breakfast. All washed down with lashings of tea and coffee to give you a burst of energy for a day on the slopes. When you return, homemade cakes and biscuits are waiting for you in the sitting room.
In the evenings, relax over Champagne and canapés while your chef prepares a gourmet four-course meal for you on five nights. A complimentary bar serves Champagne, wines, beers, spirits and mixers and teas, coffees and fresh fruit are always available too.
A family-style dinner is offered one evening, giving you a more relaxed dining experience and try a traditional Savoyard dish such as fondue or raclette, or enjoy a home-cooked comfort food. You’ll then have one evening to sample the local restaurants and your chalet host will be more than happy to make recommendations and bookings.

Kids
Children are given a warm welcome at this luxury family ski chalet, and the dedicated staff know that the key to you having a fabulous holiday is your kids having a fabulous holiday. To that end, they go all out to ensure your life is stress free while here and that little ones have everything they need. Equipment including cots, pushchairs, highchairs, baby monitors and sterilisers can all be provided to make packing that bit lighter. The staff can even get in a stash of nappies and wipes for you so that’s one less thing on your mind, too.
Children will never be bored here; there’s a selection of DVDs, a Playstation 3, toys and games for them to investigate as well as sledges for outdoor play. Ski lessons can be arranged for over-fours, as well as lift passes and ski equipment for little ones. And the chalet’s chauffeured minibus means it’s easy to get everyone to and from the slopes.
In the evenings, your chef will prepare a children’s high tea so the grown-ups can enjoy a more leisurely meal post-bedtime, or if you’re eating together food can be tailored to suit younger tastes.
Nannies and babysitters can be arranged on request and on the chef’s night off there is complimentary babysitting so the adults can head out on the town, knowing the kids are well looked after.
