Described by many as a ‘James Bond pad’, that’s a fair description. In fact, we’re pretty sure 007 would be very impressed with this luxury ski chalet, nestled into the mountain in Morzine, which you enter via a 15-metre underground tunnel.
Beautifully crafted inside and out, one end is constructed almost entirely from glass, making the most of the fabulous views over the valley. A glass atrium, warm, grainy woods and contemporary but super comfy fixtures and fittings make Chalet Joux Plane a study in using natural materials to create cutting edge design.
As well as all the high-spec fixtures you’d expect from one of the best ski properties in Europe, this exclusive luxury chalet always goes the extra mile. Want a stunning mountain view? Have it from an adult swing seat. In need of a relaxing bath? Slip into one of the freestanding tubs. This property really has everything you could wish for and a few things you’ve probably never considered.
The wellbeing facilities are second to none, with a private gym, Bamford spa with a hammam and treatment room where Bamford practitioners can pamper you after a morning on the slopes, and of course, the spectacular 23 metre indoor-outdoor swimming pool, a highlight of the house. Swim from the chalet out into the open air under the watch of the mountains – or close the pool off and enjoy an invigorating jet experience sure to soothe away any skiing aches and pains.
A cinema, art gallery, library and children’s playroom means there is always somewhere beautiful to play, lounge or just cocoon yourself with a book and take in your surroundings.
The dedicated and talented staff are practically invisible but always on hand to ensure everything runs like clockwork for you. In the evenings, enjoy pre-dinner drinks in the mezzanine bar area or gathered around the statement fire with friends, sprawled on the oh-so-comfy sofas. Whether your chef is cooking for you to eat in the ‘floating’ mezzanine dining room, you’re enjoying warm comfort food in front of the TV or sitting down to experience the unforgettable Chef’s Table tasting menu or Kaiseki dining, every meal here is one to remember.
In fact, the Breakfast Club is famed for its very fine starts to the day too.
Drivers will drop you wherever you need to be and at the end of the skiing day an apres-ski concierge will meet you to whisk away your ski gear. After all, it’s hard to dance on tables when you’re still wearing ski boots!
This luxury ski chalet is perched in a private location high above Morzine, yet is just one minute’s chauffeured drive from the centre of town and has incredible access to much of the expansive Portes du Soleil ski area; one of the largest in the world.
The closest lift is just 250 metres from the front door offering easy access to the slopes of Morzine and Les Gets. Lovers of high-altitude skiing will enjoy adventures in Avoriaz which takes just five minutes to reach from the bottom of the Prodains Telepherique.
In good snow conditions, competent skiers can ski in from the Morzine side of the valley, via a short stretch of gentle off piste.
Geneva Airport is approximately 1 hour 20 minutes drive.

Food and drink is one of the key parts of your luxury ski holiday here at Chalet Joux Plane.
The chefs employed are all at the very top of their game – many are Michelin-kitchen-trained, and they take enormous pride in ensuring everything is just perfect.
Each morning, come to slowly with a visit from The Breakfast Club, where you can fuel yourself for a day on the slopes with a selection of hot dishes and continental options, too. And when you return to your private luxury ski chalet from the snow, following snacks and refreshments in the boot room, an afternoon tea of freshly made breads, cakes and a charcuterie platter are waiting to greet you.
To allow you to really make the most of your stay at Joux Plane, a luxury dining plan is drawn up for you, which your hosts recommend to include one evening of Kaiseiki, a six-course Japanese fine-dining experience; an evening at Chef’s Table to try a six-course tasting menu with matched wines, designed to showcase the chefs’ skills; two ‘gourmet’ dinners designed especially for your group and one relaxed dining evening, allowing you to enjoy the comforts of your chalet in front of a film in the cinema room or simply curled up with a bowl of something warm and comforting in front of the fire.
There’s a pre-arrival consultation with your chef so that all your group’s likes, dislikes and any dietary requirements can be easily catered for on your luxury ski holiday and your chef will be happy to provide an early evening children’s tea so that no one little has to be on best behaviour and the adults can really kick-back and relax after the kids are in bed.
Whatever you do, don’t miss the chance to have a wine-tasting arranged for you in your chalet. Wine is taken seriously here and the winter team is trained each year by the house’s consultant sommelier in what’s on offer. The house list includes up to ten wines, handpicked from around Europe, and there is also an a la carte list in the cellar, which includes some very special bottles from Bordeaux and Burgundy. There is also a gin bar with a variety of premium gins and speciality tonics, an open spirits bar and house champagne which flows all week long.

The spaciousness of the property means that there’s always plenty of room for kids to let off steam, as well as lots to keep them occupied when they aren’t on the nursery slopes. As well as a 23m indoor-outdoor swimming pool for them to splash in, there’s also a cinema room, where they can catch a matinee movie while the adults chat, and the wonderful children’s playroom.
For children who wish to be close to their parents, the four-berth bunk room can be interconnected with one of the bedrooms, creating a wonderful family suite.
To make life easier for parents, there is an in-resort driver service to shuttle you to and from the ski lifts and your chef will be pleased to do a kids’ tea each evening so they can eat at a more suitable time.
Cots and highchairs can also be provided for smaller guests and childcare can be arranged on request.
