Standing proud on the slopes of the majestic Matterhorn, Chalet La Fenice boasts one of the most unique and enviable locations in the Italian Alps. Surrounded only by sloping, snow covered mountains, you’ll enjoy total seclusion and uninterrupted views – whilst being just five minutes from the centre of Cervinia resort.
Step inside the chalet and you’ll feel as though you’ve wandered into a royal residence, with 1,200 square meters (and six floors) of luxury living space that houses everything you could possibly need – and some. The traditional pine-clad interiors have been modernised with plush velvet furniture, thick fluffy throws, and contemporary artwork. Huge en-suite bathrooms are clad in marble, while floor to ceiling windows and an epic stone fireplace invite you to settle into the spacious open-plan drawing and club room.
In the cosy dining room, gather under a spectacular crystal chandelier and enjoy being served gourmet cuisine as you sip on wine from the chalet’s own wine cellar. After dinner, retire to the private cinema to curl up and watch a film, or soak tired legs in the sauna, steam room or outdoor hot tub. You could even admire the stars (or a snowy slope-side scene) from the 10-metre indoor swimming pool, which provides 180-degree views through floor to ceiling windows.
For kids and big-kids alike, the massive games room is the perfect place for some pre or post dinner fun. With everything from a retro video arcade, digital pinball machine and your classic pool table and table tennis, it might be hard to drag yourselves away!
Appearing like a glamorous hotel lobby rather than a place to store your boots, the chalet ski room is decked out with heaters, stylish storage, and sofas – there is even a gym for those who wish to maintain their fitness regime. Once you’re kitted up, simply buckle your boots and traverse across the mountainside to the nearest blue run, or make use of your private driver and get dropped right at the base of the nearest lift.
Looking lonesome on the slopes of the Matterhorn, Chalet La Fenice provides total privacy but all within easy reach of the centre of Cervinia. With your private driver to chauffeur you, the five-minute journey (or 15-minute walk) to the shops, restaurants and ski lifts in town is very easily done.
For a ski-in/ski-out experience, competent skiers could even bypass the journey to Cervinia altogether, by traversing right from the ski room to the nearest blue run – which then runs down into the village.
Many will also love that once you are up in the mountains you can cross the border into Switzerland’s Zermatt, meaning you can easily ski in two countries in one action-packed day.
The nearest airports are in Turin, approximately 1hr 40mins drive, and Milan, which is around 2hrs 15mins drive away.

In a chalet that looks designed for royalty, it’s only fitting that you eat like one too. With a private gourmet chef on hand to cater to your every need, you’ll be treated to all manner of delicious goodies. The menu and style of dining (relaxed family affairs or indulgent fine dining) will be led by you, and the chef will take into consideration your preferences before crafting a tailor-made menu for the week.
Enjoy freshly made buffet and made-to-order breakfasts every morning, then naughty but nice afternoon tea when you return from the slopes. On six out of the seven nights, you will be served a gourmet dinner, complete with wine from the extensive wine cellar. To help make the dining experience even more special, your front of house manager will be on hand to tell you all about the locally sourced wines and produce.

If adults will love Chalet Fenice, then kids will think they’ve gone to heaven. While parents will appreciate the glamorous décor, for the younger members of the family it’s the swimming pool, games room and cinema that will really blow them away. In fact, the games room is such a treasure trove of fun – with a digital pinball machine, video arcade games, Xbox, table football and table tennis set (no less!) – that you might not see the younger members of the family all holiday.
When you arrive, watch their little faces light up as they race around the six floors, opening doors and finding new spots to play in, or bagsying bedrooms with their brothers and sisters.
If you want some completely uninterrupted adults-only time while away, just ask your front of house manager to arrange a babysitter or even a full-time nanny. Of course, ski lessons can also be organised, along with pick-ups and drop-offs. And if you’d like kid-friendly meals or separate dining for the youngest ones, just let the chef know.
Chalet La Fenice has been crowned winner in ‘Italy’s Best Ski Chalet 2024’ category from the World Ski Awards.
