The best of ski style meets English country retreat in this luxury ski chalet in Meribel.
Chalet La Varappe is a six-bedroom chalet with a warm, rustic feel throughout that will make you feel right at home.
The individually designed bedrooms, some wood clad, some with four posters, are all wonderfully cosy spaces to retreat to at the end of the skiing day, and each has a spa-quality en-suite to make your morning ablutions an absolute pleasure!
In the main living areas, ‘cosy’ is their watch word, with plump sofas, stacked with cushions, gathered around a large stone fireplace, and an intimate TV room, just made for curling up with friends for an afternoon film.
After an energetic morning on the slopes, if you don’t fancy a movie matinee, you might like to escape to the chalet’s steam room and soothe any aching muscles back to normality.
The dining room seats 10 around the polished dining table and the eating space itself is surrounded by a library of books to add to the intimate feel. The chalet was until recently a family home, and this convivial atmosphere still pervades, making you feel as though you are staying at the luxury home of close friends rather than in a holiday chalet.
Your private chef and the rest of the chalet’s staff are on hand to ensure you are well fed and watered at every stage. After you’ve watched your chef put together a gourmet meal for you all and enjoyed it in the dining area, we recommend you head out to the terraces with a glass of bubbly to either take in the views or relax in the hot tub.
From dawn through to bedtime, this beautifully designed luxury ski chalet provides everything you could wish for and your wish truly is their command.
Chalet La Varappe is located in the Mussillon region, a quiet and peaceful part of Meribel. It’s a short walk to the town centre and just moments by chauffeured car to the Chaudanne lift station.
The nearest airports are Chambery, 1hr 15mins away by car, Lyon (1hr 55mins) and Grenoble and Geneva are both 2hrs away.

Each morning you will wake to a delicious and filling breakfast to get you ready for your day’s skiing. Light options such as a freshly made smoothie or fruit/vegetable juice, cereals, porridge, jambon cru, cheeses, fruit and freshly baked breads and pastries are all available. There’s also a hot dish each day; anything from Eggs Royale to English breakfast. Tea and coffee are on tap, too, to ease you into the day.
When you return to your chalet, tea, coffee and homemade cakes and biscuits will be laid out waiting for you to warm you through.
On five evenings, Champagne and canapés are served, while your chef prepares a gourmet four-course meal, followed by coffee, digestifs and the chalet’s signature homemade truffles. If you or any members of your party have any dietary requirements you need only let the staff know.
A family-style dinner is offered one evening, giving you a more relaxed dining experience and try a traditional Savoyard dish such as fondue or raclette, or enjoy a home-cooked comfort food. You’ll then have one evening to sample the local restaurants and your chalet host will be more than happy to make recommendations and bookings.
The chalet has a complimentary bar serving Champagne, wines, beers, spirits and mixers on tap. Teas, coffees and fresh fruit are available all day, too. Ingredients are local and seasonal wherever possible.

Chalet La Varappe is a brilliant choice for families. This luxury chalet has several flexible rooms that can be arranged with either double or twin beds, as well as an eaves room, ideal for two children to share. Three of the main bedrooms can accommodate a cot, too.
There’s lots of room to roam outdoors, and also a separate TV room where younger guests can enjoy a movie night while the grown-ups are enjoying bubbly and canapés in the early evening, or a hot tub following their morning’s ski.
Your private chef will prepare a children’s high tea so the grown-ups can enjoy a more leisurely meal post-bedtime, but if you prefer or have slightly older children, the staff can devise menus that will suit both younger and older palates and you can eat all together.
Nannies and babysitters can be arranged on request and on the chef’s night off there is complimentary babysitting so the adults can enjoy a night out in Meribel.
