For a luxury skiing holiday where you can really escape it all and be completely independent, look no further than Chalet Manara. This luxury ski chalet in Meribel is self-catered, allowing you to come and go as you please and make spur-of-the-moment plans.
A welcome basket and a bottle of Champagne on arrival mean you don’t have to make too many plans in advance, but thereafter you are free to enjoy all the restaurants, cafes and bars that Meribel has to offer – or to eat in the comfort of your cosy chalet using local and seasonal ingredients.
The chalet has a really laid-back feel. It’s decorated entirely in a neutral palette, with rustic and textured materials, from the rough-hewn stone tiles in the bathrooms, to the warm woods, to the fluffy faux fur throws everywhere you look.
In the main living area, floor-to-ceiling windows give you a fabulous view out onto the mountain, which we think is best enjoyed from a seat beside the roaring fire with a glass of bubbly in your hand. Next to the living area, is a cosy dining room, with space for you all to gather for meals, and an open-plan kitchen. There’s even a small study space.
The six en-suite bedrooms give every member of the party their own little bolthole to escape to. And for those who are hoping for a bit of pampering, there’s a private indoor Jacuzzi and sauna, just made for unwinding in after a day out on the slopes.
In the evenings, take your nightcap out onto the wraparound balconies with a warm blanket and enjoy taking in the mountain air and watching the stars twinkle over Meribel from your own little mountain retreat.
Chalet Manara is located in the peaceful Mussillon area of Meribel.
Getting to the village centre and lift station couldn’t be easier with a free shuttle stop located 200 metres away from the chalet.
The nearest airports are Chambery, 1hr 15mins away by car, Lyon (1hr 55mins) and Grenoble and Geneva are both 2hrs away.

This luxury self-catered ski chalet has all the ingredients you need to eat well in Meribel. The kitchen is open-plan to the dining space, so cooking can be a sociable activity and the kitchen is well-equipped with microwave, oven, fridge, induction hob, toaster and kettle and the all-important Nespresso machine so you can grab a coffee before leaving for the snow.
The spacious and chic dining area is filled with light and looks straight out onto the slope, making it a wonderful place to gather with friends or just sit quietly with a coffee and toast and take in the scenery.
And the beauty of self-catering here is that you can make the most of all the wonderful eateries in Meribel itself. We particularly love Au Tore for its French-Belgian fusion menu and the traditional Le Cepe for a delicious alfresco lunch.
