African savannah meets Swiss alpine charm. That’s Chalet Nyumba. Up above the chic resort of Verbier, this is a luxury ski chalet with five star bells and whistles. In Swahili, Nyumba simply means ‘home’. But what a home this is.
Spread over four floors and occupying an elevated position in the Sonalon enclave, Chalet Nyumba gives you supersize luxury. Chill out in the fabulous luxury spa, then fill up on Champagne and canapés before dinner. Soak away your stress in a huge marble bath, then succumb to an invigorating massage. Count the snow-capped peaks through your bedroom window, then snuggle up in your soft furry bedspread. It’s a ski holiday dream come true.
Everywhere you look out from this chalet, you get an eyeful of spectacular scenery. With the town of Verbier spread out below you and the dizzy heights of the mountains all around, it’s a great location. But don’t worry about getting around because there is an in-resort driver service to ferry you to the slopes. The chauffeur can even pick you up from the bar in the middle of the night.
Strewn with ethnic rugs and African artworks, Chalet Nyumba is impressive without being too grand. The double height living room is furnished with soft, timeworn leather sofas, and a mezzanine office sits above it. From there, stairs take you up to the magnificent master bedroom with log fire and marble bathroom.
Life is sweet when you have a team of chalet staff to tend to your every need, with a private chef in the kitchen, a daily housekeeping service, and masseurs and beauty therapists waiting for your call. Children will love the games room and the cinema room, whilst adults will adore all the luxurious touches such as the marble steam room and oversized hot tub on the deck.
A proportion of the holiday price goes to the UK-registered “Give a Future Foundation”, which supports a variety of education projects for orphans and vulnerable children in Ethiopia.
Chalet Nyumba is in the exclusive Sonalon district of Verbier, 5 minutes drive from the centre of town and seven minutes from the ski lifts.
The nearest airport is Geneva, approximately 2 hours drive.

It’s luxury all the way at Chalet Nyumba. A team of chalet staff work away in the background, pampering you with delicious food and drink.
The chalet is offered on a catered basis, inclusive of daily breakfast and afternoon tea and gourmet dinners on five evenings, whipped up by your private chef. To start the evening off right, pre-dinner canapés are drinks are served and can provide separate children’s teas if you wish.
All the soft drinks, beers, house wines and champagne are included too, so the only extra expenses will be that bottle of rare vintage wine from the cellar, or that extra fine bottle of Cognac. Before you even arrive at Chalet Nyumba, you have the opportunity to consult with the chef on any particular preferences or dietary requirements. The attention to detail and superior service mark this chalet out as being top notch.
There’s no doubt that some of your happiest memories of staying here will be of the excellent cuisine, prepared and served up with dedication and finesse.

The home cinema room is a perfect den for kids to retreat to whilst the adults spend time relaxing after dinner, and there is a dedicated games room with a pool table.
Of course, if your children love swimming, they will be in their element in the chalet’s pool, giving you the opportunity to kick back in the luxurious surroundings of the spa. Verbier has lots of activities for kids, both on and off the pistes, so you should have no trouble keeping them busy.
The chalet staff are on hand to arrange places at children’s clubs or book instructors, and to drive little ones to and from their lessons. Your chalet host can even arrange ski and boot hire and organise your lift passes, so you can all just relax without any hassles. And, to make things even easier, your private chef can whip up tempting children’s teas when they are hungry, rather than having to wait for dinner. If only family life was always this effortless.
“Palatial Grandeur. One of the fifty best Alpine chalets, truly lavish.” Daily Telegraph
”This was without exception the best and most enjoyable ski holiday any of us have ever had – and I’ve been skiing for some 62 years. Constantly mind-boggling attention to detail and outstanding service, food and drink. And what a chalet. Thank you for the holiday of a lifetime.” Mr C.L.
