‘Traditional style with a modern twist’ could sum up Chalet Saphir in a nutshell. This luxury chalet in Chamonix has been designed in traditional Alpine style with rich woods, rustic stone and textured fabrics and furnishings, but all with a hint of modernity, from sleek, modern furniture through to designer lighting and top-of-the-range gadgetry.
The property comfortably sleeps 12 in four en-suite double bedrooms and a four-bed mezzanine-floor bedroom, which might be ideal for children to share. Each bedroom has WiFi and its own TV so everyone has their own little bolthole to escape to.
Chalet Saphir is a spacious and sociable chalet for a large group on a luxury ski holiday. The open-plan living area, with a huge statement fireplace and contemporary L-shaped sofas and armchairs gathered around it is the perfect place for getting together in the evenings. Nearby is a long dining table, ideal for convivial evenings with friends and good food. And the whole space is filled with light from the double-height floor-to-ceiling windows that look out onto the picture-perfect mountains beyond.
A well-equipped kitchen area provides you with all you need, whether you wish to cater for yourselves during your stay or just be able to fix yourself a decent cup of coffee to take out onto the terrace in the morning before you shower and get out on the slopes.
For afternoons when you’ve picked up a few aches and pains during your time on the mountain, there’s a sauna and an outdoor hot tub to soothe sore muscles. And the south-facing terraces with panoramic views are a tonic in themselves. Take yourself outside with your breakfast to be invigorated by the mountain air, or wander out last thing in the evening with a nightcap to look up at the stars; there’s nothing to beat that view.
For larger parties, Chalet Saphir can be taken alongside one or two of its sister properties, Chalet Azurite (6 bedrooms) and Chalet Alaska (5 bedrooms), perfect for multiple family groups or a corporate trip.
Chalet Saphir is part of an exclusive hamlet of three luxury ski chalets, perched just at the entrance to Chamonix’s town centre and a short walk to the shops, bars and restaurants.
The chalet is just 300 metres from the beginner’s slopes at Le Savoy, from where you can access the entire Le Brévent – La Flégère ski area.
The nearest airport is Geneva which is just over an hour’s drive.
