If you like your interiors just a little outside the box, Chalet Tahion may be just the place for you. Eschewing the usual Alpine style for one that is darker, more contemporary and with a very sophisticated edge, the walls of this luxury ski chalet just seem to cocoon you as you enter. It’s the perfect ski-in/ski-out bolthole from which to watch the snow fall and embrace all that is cosy.

The open-plan living space on the top floor has something of a gentlemen’s club feel. Button-back armchairs and capacious sofas are gathered together, lit by flickering candles and a roaring log fire that is the centrepiece of the living area. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow the light to pour into the rooms and provide fabulous panoramic views of the mountainside. Adjacent is a contemporary dining space, overlooked by a fabulous chandelier, where you’ll enjoy wonderful meals, prepared by your private chef during your stay. We highly recommend you take your after-dinner drinks out onto the terrace, where you can sit in the outdoor living spaces, snuggled up in blankets and enjoy the mountain air and the sight of the stars twinkling over the mountain.

As you stagger in the door straight off the slopes each afternoon, head straight for the wellness area, where you can relax in the private pool, enjoy the sauna and steam room and maybe even grab a drink from the bar and relax with a book at the side of the pool.

When it’s time for bed, after a long day of adventures, you’re guaranteed a good night’s sleep. Each of the bedrooms has been individually decorated in boutique hotel style, with comfy beds stacked high with pillows and throws, faux fur rugs and throws and sumptuous furnishings. Spa-style bathrooms, flatscreen TVs and a master suite with its own dressing room mean each bedroom has something special to recommend it.

What really makes this luxury chalet a total treat, however, is the attention to detail from the styling to the top-of-the-range gadgetry. Everything has been considered here to ensure your stay is completely stress-free and staff are on hand to make sure your every whim is catered for. Help yourself to another drink from the open bar, put your feet up on the squishy sofas and stare a little longer at your outstanding mountain view. There aren’t many properties as practically perfect as this one.

Location

With the ski room backing onto the Dou-du-Midi piste, Chalet Tahion is one of the best located ski-in/ski-out chalets in Courchevel. The chalet is just moments from the Plantrey ski lift and the whole of the Three Valleys is your oyster. It’s also just 1km from the centre of Courchevel and all its shops, bars and restaurants.

The nearest airport is Chambery, approx. 1hr 30mins from Courchevel by car, and Lyon is approx. 2 hours away. Geneva airport is around 2hrs 20mins away, but has many more frequent flights. Courchevel also has its own altiport for anyone arriving by private jet or helicopter.

Rooms

Chalet Tahion sleeps 10 guests across five main bedrooms.

Bedroom 1:
Master bedroom on first floor with en-suite bathroom, dressing room and balcony access.

Bedroom 2:
Double bedroom on first floor with en-suite bathroom, dressing room and balcony access.

Bedroom 3:
Double bedroom on ground floor with en-suite shower room.

Bedroom 4:

Bedroom 5:
Double/twin bedroom on ground floor with en-suite shower room.

There is a sixth windowless double bedroom with en-suite shower room if needed (at additional cost). Please note this room is best suited for guests’ staff or children.

Eating

You’ll be well fed at Chalet Tahion. Good food is as important as good snow here, and every meal will be one to remember.

You’ll wake each day to an artisan continental buffet with fresh and dried fruits, nuts, seeds and cereals, alongside cured meats and cheeses, pastries and breads as well as homemade yoghurts, jams and chutneys. For those who like to start the day with something heartier, a cooked breakfast is on offer as well as daily specials such as Huevos Rancheros and American Pancakes with Bacon and Maple Syrup.

When you return from the slopes each day, afternoon tea or snacks will be waiting to warm you through. Choose from sweet or savoury options including homemade cakes, biscuits and protein bars, and savoury choices such as Greek mezzo spreads, local meat and cheese platters and savoury scones and tartlets.

On five days of seven, your host will serve drinks and canapés whilst your chef prepares a four-course gourmet dinner. Menus can be adapted to suit the needs of your party, whether you want something light and healthy or six-course tasting menus that go on long into the evening.

On your chef’s nights off the chalet staff will be happy to help with booking the best tables in the best restaurants for you.

Kids

The position of Chalet Tahion alone make this a fantastic chalet for family groups with children as the piste is on your doorstep for ski-in/ski-out access. In addition to that, the chalet has an in-resort driver service so you can very easily drive down to drop kids off at ski school or pop into the resort centre.

Once home, and if they have any energy left, there’s a private indoor swimming pool to splash around in, as well as stocked toy boxes and Apple TV and Netflix for kids’ film nights for some down time.

Later on, your private chef will be happy to provide a dedicated kids’ tea with a wide-ranging kids’ menu and your chef can even arrange kids’ pizza parties and roll-it-yourself fajita nights.

Courchevel is blessed with excellent ski schools and is a great resort for families, with lots to do both on and off the mountain to keep everyone busy.

Childcare can be arranged on request, allowing you to enjoy grown-up nights out in Courchevel.
