This beautiful, luxury ski chalet in Val d’Isere occupies a former monastery. However, the thick, stone walls are the only thing that’s monastic about it these days. With a fabulously well-stocked wine cellar, stunning swimming pool that moves seamlessly from indoors to outdoors, cinema screen and luxury en-suite bedrooms, you could say it’s moved upmarket since its days as a house of God.
Sumptuous living areas, including a sitting room with huge fireplace and enormous, squashy sofas gathered around it provide lots of room to lounge and relax in together. A rather regal dining room makes for a great backdrop to the fabulous meals you’ll enjoy here, all cooked by your private chef, of course.
But what makes Chalet Toit du Monde unique in its field is the space and standard of accommodation in the bedrooms. Each has its own en-suite, which has underfloor heating and an oversized bath tub, complete with rain shower, which turns into a steam room to seat four. Remote control lighting allows you to alter the atmosphere at the touch of a button, too. The bedrooms also each have their own relaxation area, so that everyone has a place to escape to if they wish from time to time.
Perched right on the slopes, yet just five minutes’ chauffeured drive from the centre of Val d’Isere, its top-class credentials are matched by its exclusive location…To be honest, we can’t think why the monks ever left.
Chalet Toit du Monde is set in a wonderful ski-in/ski-out location onto a green piste in the exclusive hamlet of La Daille in Val d’Isere, just a 5 minute chauffeured drive from the centre of town.
Chambery airport is just under 2 hours away, whilst Geneva airport is approximately 3 hours away.

The chalet’s private chef takes food very seriously. All ingredients are top quality and sourced locally wherever possible.
Following tea or coffee brought to you under your duvet, a hearty breakfast is served each morning, then when you return from the slopes, afternoon tea will be waiting for you, including hot drinks, homemade cakes and savouries. In the evenings, your dinner is completely bespoke – just let your chef know in advance whether you want five courses of gastronomy – from a trio of rabbit to seared seabass – or a plate of comforting nursery food, such as a warming fish pie, in front of the TV. The choice is yours.
If that isn’t enough, guests can also choose from the 24 hour menu (charged additionally).
The wines, spirits and soft drinks are all complimentary. The wine list has been chosen to offer something for every palate, but if you’d like to try something a bit different, have a browse through the á la carte list of vintage wines and champagnes.
For those bringing children, early teas can be supplied, too.

Tiny imaginations will be captured by the experience of living in this amazing stone building for a week – just like your very own castle! But kids will be as impressed by both ancient and modern features here – just try and stop them pressing the button for the magically appearing cinema screen! The indoor-outdoor swimming pool is sure to get children excited, too. Younger members of the party will need to be supervised, but that’s little hardship when you can watch them from the Jacuzzi end of the pool, while enjoying a soak yourself.
All manner of activities can be arranged by your concierge, from private ski lessons to husky sled rides and igloo experiences. Little ones can play in the snow around the chalet, and the chauffeured car is ready if you want to take them out and about in Val d’Isere.
Nannies and babysitters can be arranged on request.
