Description

This luxury lakeside holiday home is a true breath of fresh air. Built from traditional Lakeland stone and with an enviable location right on the edge of Windermere, it uses natural materials and cutting-edge design to make the most of its stunning position.

Huge windows allow light to flood into the living spaces and give panoramic views of the tranquil waters of Windermere from almost every room. Wooden beams and floors and exposed stone walls bring a  natural feel and decorative additions such as antlers and faux-fur rugs add ‘hunting lodge chic’ style.

Grey Gables is as welcoming in summer, when the doors and windows are thrown open to allow the breeze to filter in, as it is cosy in winter. The main living space has a Stuv woodburner to keep you warm on cooler evenings, with armchairs and a comfy leather sofa – a great spot for gathering with friends. There’s also a cosy snug where you can escape with a glass of wine and a good book.

Evenings in are full of fun, with a private cinema room for film showings, and a games room with pool table, TV and plenty of books to keep you busy.

Long walks are made easy with a large Bartholomew walking map on the wall and a boot room, stocked with Hunter wellies in various colours, alongside a shower and laundry facilities, so you can get as muddy and adventurous as you like on your outdoor excursions. There’s even a boathouse and jetty so you can head out onto the lake whenever the fancy takes you.

The building is surrounded by an acre of gardens. Wander among native shrubs and grasses and manicured lawns, or relax on the terrace with its sun loungers and outdoor living and dining spaces and just enjoy that calming lake view.
