For sheer eye-ball swivelling impact, you can’t beat the Heinz Julen Penthouse. This is one of the hippest luxury ski chalets in Zermatt, one of the hippest resorts in the Swiss Alps. Every original detail has been shaped by Heinz Julen himself – a celebrated local designer – to make staying here a very special experience.
Clinging to the rocks above Zermatt, the Heinz Julen Penthouse makes the most of magnificent views with huge picture windows which create the sensation of floating in the air. Everywhere you look, there are cool designer touches, such as the chairs that fold up into packing cases, and the chandelier made from old forks and spoons.
Your chalet staff are dedicated to your needs, so all you have to do is sit back with a glass of champagne, turn up the music and feel like an eagle soaring above the Matterhorn. An experienced private chef whips up gourmet meals in the kitchen, the housekeepers tidy up after the night before, and the concierge can arrange almost anything you desire. Ski passes, equipment hire and restaurant bookings are all sorted – you don’t have to leave the sofa.
Evenings are spent lounging around on the cool designer furniture, warmed by the wood burner set into the glass wall, star-gazing and relaxing in the sauna. The Heinz Julen Penthouse lends itself to partying, with three separate sitting areas, wraparound balconies and masses of light and space. Just let your hair down, safely hidden behind the huge curtains which create complete privacy when you need it.
To descend from your mountain nest into Zermatt, just walk across to the private lift of the Omnia hotel which takes you down through the rock to the centre of the resort. You can point out your sky-high penthouse to those less fortunate people, when they ask where you are staying. The Heinz Julen Penthouse also gives you half-price access between 1pm and 5pm to the Genesis Spa of the Backstage Hotel.
The Heinz Julen Penthouse sits high above Zermatt. It is accessed via a lift from the main street in the Zermatt town centre, once you reach the top it is just a two minute walk to your luxury ski chalet.
Both the Sunnega and Matterhorn express lift stations are within a 12 minute walk from the chalet.
Zermatt is a car-free resort which has a railway station, so guests often arrive by train.
Geneva Airport is approximately 3 hours drive away.

Toys, games, cots and highchairs can be organised in advance, and professional childcare can be arranged too. Just let us know what you need.
