Life is both simple and chic at this luxury villa in France. Once a sheepfold, Le Mas des Gomberts has been thoughtfully reinvented to become a stunning four-bedroom property on the prestigious Chateau de Berne estate, home to a Relais & Chateau Hotel, and a raft of renowned restaurants.
The villa sits in its own private land, made up of olive groves, lavender fields and a vegetable garden, full of seasonal produce for you to sample for most of the year. And the surrounding estate allows you live close to nature, enjoying the many cycle and footpaths. But there’s no shortage of little luxuries, with the hotel’s three swimming pools, two tennis courts and fitness rooms open to you as well.
Le Mas des Gomberts itself is designed in typically Provençal style, with exposed stone, whitewashed walls and rough-hewn woods. Antique furniture and vintage-style fabrics add the finishing touches of French country chic and a relaxed home-from-home feel, from the living area with sofas gathered around a roaring wood fire, to the charming dining space, perfect for lazy lunches, to the library lounge where you can relax with the TV and the papers. There’s also an office just in case you need a quiet space in which to catch up on emails – or escape with a book.
Upstairs, four light and airy bedrooms, decked out with French linens, TVs and en-suite bedrooms give everyone a restful place to escape at the end of the evening.
Step outside into the Provençal sunshine and you’re amid the gorgeous gardens, buzzing with insect life and with the scent of lavender wafting in on the breeze. Grab a pastis and have a game of pétanque or sit on the swimming pool’s edge with a cocktail by your side at sundown and feel the real world begin to melt pleasingly away.
This luxury villa in Provence is nestled within beautiful private gardens, hidden away within the stunning resort of Château de Berne. There are 15 hectares of vineyards, olive groves, forests and trails to explore and you have the convenience of this exclusive hotel on your doorstep and all the facilities it has to offer. The estate is between Lorgues and Flaysoc, just 1h from the St Tropez coast.
The nearest airport is an hour away in St Tropez and both Nice and Marseille airports are less than 1h 30m away by car. For those travelling by train, Les Arcs-Draguingnan is 25m from the villa and Aix-en-Provence TGV station is 1h 30m away

We defy kids not to be enchanted by Le Mas des Gomberts. They’re sure to fall in love with its magical gardens and surrounding land with endless biking and hiking tracks to explore safely.
There are plenty of adventures to be had back at the family friendly villa, too, from playing pétanque to splashing in the private swimming pool. On rainy evenings, they can cosy up in the library lounge with a film and there are also TVs in all the bedrooms. A kids’ dorm to sleep four gives them a private space in which to escape from the grown-ups, too.
The staff can help with organising nannies and babysitters if you require them.
