Description

Perched on the edge of the sea on the Cornish coast, Little Polgarron makes for an idyllic UK break. The whitewashed building with glass and timbered gables is a welcoming sight as you approach the ocean; as pretty against blue skies on sunny days as it is cosy on cooler ones.

The interiors are light and airy, with nods to the property’s beachfront location everywhere you look, from the driftwood artworks and shoal of bone china fish that hang in the entrance hall to ‘coral reef’ cushions scattered on the sofa and oversized storm lanterns that twinkle gently in the evenings.

The living area is at the heart of this beautiful home, where huge L-shaped sofas are gathered around a Stuv woodburner – perfect for cosying up in the evenings. Unwind with something delicious in hand while catching up with family and friends, or sit at the games table for a board game marathon or a few hands of cards.

Top-of-the-range gadgetry makes the kitchen with its sociable breakfast bar a good place to hang out with whoever is on chef duty, glass of wine in hand. And the stunning dining area, with bespoke wooden table under a chandelier, has bi-folding doors that open straight out onto the terrace, merging inside and out, beautifully. In the gardens, native plants and grasses allow the property to blend seamlessly with its habitat, and there are many places to sit and enjoy the sea air.

After long days on the beach, you can all pile into the cinema room for a movie matinee, where you’ll find plenty of beanbags and comfy cushions to sprawl on while you watch a film or play on the Playstation console. Those seeking a quieter corner might like to disappear to the study with a book.

You’ll certainly find it hard to tear yourselves away from Little Polgarron, but there are plenty of places to tempt you, from charming Padstow with its plethora of seafood restaurants to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project. The house sits on the South West Coastal Path for walks and has private access to Booby’s Bay, so you never need to worry about finding a parking space close to the sand.

At the end of each day, fall into Vi-Spring beds in the five uber-comfy bedrooms, each with their own en-suite and their own sea view, and drift off to sleep to the sounds of the waves nearby.
