Description

This luxury villa in Provence has a dream-like feel, with sunshine and shade in perfect combination, and the sound of crickets and the scent of lavender always wafting in on the breeze.

Le Mas de Castillone is a magical place in which to spend a week. The architect-designed stone buildings (once the village town hall) sit under the shade of a 300-year-old plane tree with gardens all around. Wander among the kitchen garden’s veg beds, find a shady spot with a book and a glass of wine, or take a seat on the terraces to take in views of the Alpilles and do a bit of stargazing.

Those who like to stay active will enjoy the tennis and pétanque courts, fully equipped gym and there are hiking and cycling paths that lead right up to the front door, too.

The stunning swimming pool with its own pool house, comprising outdoor kitchen, dining room and more, is the jewel in the crown of this estate and you’ll find you can idle away entire days down here, soaking, splashing and reading by the side of the pool in the Provençal sunshine.

Inside the stone buildings are spacious, cool rooms in which to escape the heat of the day, including two lounge areas complete with capacious sofas. On chilly evenings, light a fire in the huge, stone fireplace and the whole house feels instantly cosy. As well as two lounges, there are also two well-equipped kitchens: one for a chef if required and the other a traditional farmhouse kitchen kitted out with everything you could need.

Each of the seven air-conditioned en-suite bedrooms is a serene retreat with lots of treats from copper bath tubs to king-size beds and glamorous dressing rooms.

Soothing colour palettes and natural materials have been used throughout to create spaces in which it’s impossible not to relax.
