This recently revamped luxury ski hotel offers the holy grail of luxury ski holidays – ski-in/ski-out accommodation in one of the most desirable locations in the French Alps. Totally rebuilt and upgraded, the renowned Hotel Portetta in Courchevel 1650 is still as relaxed and family friendly as ever.
Offering 38 sumptuous rooms plus six spacious lofts in the penthouse, you’re spoilt for choice for accommodation at this luxury ski hotel with spa.

Bookings can be made on a bed and breakfast, half-board or full-board basis. Whichever you choose you’ll enjoy meals at Cucina Angelina, the exciting new venture from famous British chef, Angela Hartnett.
For those who can’t bear to be away from the action, there’s Fire and Ice, Hotel Portetta’s own après ski hotspot. It looks directly onto Belvedere, the main slope into Courchevel 1650.
Offering the largest outdoor terrace bar in Courchevel Moriond, you can enjoy café au lait or something stronger along with freshly made wood fired pizzas at the bottom of the piste.
After a long day on the slopes, you’ll find solace in this luxury ski hotel’s wonderful spa, where you can choose from a range of treatments, using Bamford, Oskia and Opi products.
With such a central location, you’re ideally placed for exploring the buzzing surrounding areas. It’s a two minute walk from the ski lift from where you can travel up to Courchevel 1850. When you’re not gliding down the slopes, you can visit the upmarket boutiques dotted around nearby.
Another trip worth making is to Aquamotion, Courchevel’s new swimming and wellness complex. It offers five pools, a climbing and rope wall, indoor surf wave and a wellness and spa area, all with mountain views.
Hotel Portetta is located in the centre of Courchevel 1650, on the edge of the piste in a ski-in/ski-out position. It’s just a two-minute walk from the ski lift from where you can travel up to Courchevel 1850 in just ten minutes.
The nearest airport is Chambery which is 1h 30m away, whilst Geneva, Lyon and Grenoble are all approximately 2h and 15 minutes drive. Moutiers rail station is also just 30 minutes from this luxury ski hotel.

Portetta Hotel has 38 rooms and 6 lofts which have their own living areas. All rooms and lofts have TVs, board games and wifi.

Piste rooms and valley view rooms
Featuring a king-size bed which can be converted into twin beds, an en-suite bathroom, these rooms either overlook the slopes or the valley.
Family piste view, family valley, and large family valley rooms
Offering a large main bedroom, with sitting area and TV, en-suite bathroom and kids’ bedroom with bunk beds and en-suite shower, these suites are ideal for a family group. These rooms either overlook the slopes or the valley.
All of these rooms have a sofa bed and can accommodate a maxiumum of 3 adults and 3 children.
Portetta lofts – Ranging from 60sqm to 160sqm. All lofts have a sofa bed, which can accommodate a further adult or two children. Please note that the last 13 images on the gallery refer to the lofts.
Loft one
Ideal for a family of two adults and two children, there is a spacious open plan sitting area with log fire, dining area and kitchenette with fridge, oven, dishwasher and Nespresso machine. The main bedroom contains a king-size bed with en-suite bathroom. It overlooks the piste and has a balcony. The bunk room opposite the bathroom has two large bunk beds and bathroom across the corridor.
Loft two
Sleeping four adults across two king-size rooms one of which can also be a twin, this loft offers piste views. The master bedroom has a dressing room and en-suite bathroom with separate toilet. The second double room has an en-suite bathroom with large shower and bath. Both rooms open onto the large balcony overlooking Courchevel. There is a large open plan sitting area with log fire and connecting kitchen with fridge, oven, dishwasher and Nespresso machine.
Loft three
Arranged over two floors, this duplex Loft sleeps six adults in three king rooms, all of which have en-suite bathrooms and two of which can be also be a twin. There is a large sitting area with fire, a dining table seating 10 and a kitchen with fridge, oven, dishwasher and Nespresso machine, along with a bar. Double doors open up onto a large balcony with views of Courchevel Moriond.
Loft four
This Loft sleeps six adults across three king-size rooms, two of which can also be twins, all with en-suite bathrooms. Two double bedrooms are located on the ground floor. The third master bedroom, with balcony, and the spacious living area, are found on the upper level. There is a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, oven, dishwasher and Nespresso machine.
Loft five
Ideal for a family group of two adults and two children, sleeping across two bedrooms, one of which can be a bunkroom. These rooms share a bathroom. There is an open plan kitchen, with fridge, oven, dishwasher and Nespresso machine. There is also a spacious dining and sitting area as well as a balcony.
Loft six
The only Loft on the very top floor of Portetta, this accommodation is spacious enough for four adults and two children. The two double bedrooms have king-size beds, one of which can be converted into twin beds and offer views of Courchevel 1650 and have en-suite bathrooms. The third bedroom contains two single beds and en-suite shower room. The open plan sitting area is vast and there is also a dining table and kitchen with fridge, oven, dishwasher and Nespresso machine, along with open fire.
Foodies will delight in a stay at this luxury ski hotel, where Italian inspired food, using fresh local ingredients, is a focal point. Renowned British chef, Angela Hartnett has taken to the slopes with her venture, Cucina Angelina, at Hotel Portetta.
For those booked on a half-board or full-board basis, meals can be enjoyed here, which offer Italian influenced mountain food, with accents of local Savoyard cuisine. Regional produce and meats grilled on an open range within the restaurant, are the order of the day.
Then there’s Fire and Ice, Hotel Portetta’s very own bar. The longest terrace in Courchevel 1650 is on offer here, along with log burning fires, flaming torches, wood fired pizza oven, ice shots, fur snugs and heated seats.
Between 4.30pm and 7pm, you’ll get a slice of wood-fired pizza with any drink or ice shot – the ideal après ski choice.
Menus change seasonally and daily, and there’s an extensive wine list for you to work through, too.
Additionally, chefs can be provided for catered dinners in the Lofts.
Children will find plenty to entertain them at this luxury ski hotel, with board games in abundance to enjoy as the snow falls outside. Low and high seasons vary by location and by property, but the general pattern is as follows:
Chalets
Low season is usually early/mid-December, mid-January, plus the summer months.
Mid season is usually early February, March and April.
High season is usually Xmas, New Year and mid/end February.
European Villas
Low season is usually April, May and October.
Mid season is usually June and September.
High season is usually July and August.
Caribbean Villas
