Created from two quaint fisherman’s cottages that have been stylishly and thoughtfully merged into one, Residence Estrela Do Mar is now a luxury beachfront property that is ideal for a family of four or two couples sharing.
Right on the edge of the sand, and nestled in the centre of town, it offers the best of all worlds in this pretty fishing village, giving both proximity to all of Salema’s shops and eateries as well as direct access to the beach.
With two almost separate annexes, guests of this property will enjoy plenty of peace and privacy. The first house comprises a small hall, a well-equipped kitchen with all you could need, including a dishwasher, pantry and laundry room, and then a small staircase leading to a large double bedroom with flatscreen TV and en-suite shower room.
The entrance to the second house is outside across a small path, and the property comprises a king-size bed, flatscreen TV and an en-suite shower room, small kitchen and an open-plan living and dining area with TV and dining space for six. This part of the property also has a stunning rooftop terrace with an outdoor dining space for four, a lounge space with sun beds and shades and a barbecue for long, leisurely evening meals, while enjoying the view of the sea. The rooftop terrace is accessed from the first house via a beautiful glass bridge.
Both cottages have been carefully refurbished to the highest of standards, retaining all their charm but adding plenty of mod cons such as air conditioning and underfloor heating for winter, top-of-the-range kitchen equipment and spa-style bathrooms. Lots of creature comforts, from fluffy towels to luxury bath products help make everyone feel right at home.
But the best part about a week here is simply the opportunity to stop and stare at the vast expanse of sea from the windows. Utterly mesmerising.
This luxury villa in the Algarve is made up of two fisherman’s cottages, converted into one property and tucked right in the centre of Salema, close to all the shops, bars and restaurants.
It has sea views and is just three metres from the beach, so you’ll never have to waste a moment of your beach days and can easily pop back home for towels and drinks.
Just 2.5km away is the Santo Antonio golf and tennis club, where there is also a spa. For days out further afield, Lagos is just 20km away and Faro is just over 100km away.

This luxury self-catered villa in the Algarve is set right in the middle of Salema, putting you in the perfect position to enjoy all the restaurants and cafes this little fishing town has to offer. We love A Boia, a fabulous seafood restaurant with the best views in Salema. We always recommend Agua Na Boca, too, widely thought of as one of the best restaurants in the whole of the Algarve.
When you arrive at the property, you’ll find a welcome hamper of local goodies waiting for you to see you through until you can pop to a shop. It includes all the essentials, such as red and white wine, beers, soft drinks, mineral water, tea and coffee, sugar, seasonal fruit and olive oil.

Children are welcome at Residence Estrela Do Mar and Salema is a very family-friendly resort. However, parents of young children should be aware that this was originally two properties, so you may find you aren’t as close to your children’s bedroom as you might like.
That said, it’s a fantastic spot for a family of four with older children who prefer a little space of their own.
With the beach literally seconds away from the property, kids will be able to be on the sand within moments of getting out of bed in the morning.
