Spectacular views demand a spectacular property to enjoy them from and you won’t be disappointed at Rocca Penthouse, a wonderful new addition for winter 2019/20 season. The views are probably the most impressive feature of this delightful property and the interiors more than match their drama and majesty.
Cathedral style windows, high ceilings and reclaimed wooden beams mean the space is flooded with light but also packed with character. On the main floor a fabulous open-plan living and dining area gives everyone somewhere to kick back after a day on the slopes. A cosy fireplace is a focal point for the room and a place to gather for drinks while your private chef prepares your evening meal.
Upstairs an intimate snug area gives you a place to escape to and somewhere for children to bed down for the afternoon with a movie or to hide out while the grown-ups enjoy canapés and their evening meal.
After a long morning on Val d’Isere’s snow, an afternoon in Rocca Penthouse’s private spa is just the way to relieve any aching arms and legs and restore calm to your soul. As well as the 8m x 3m private pool there is a hammam and a private massage room where you can enjoy a pampering beauty treatment.
The chalet’s host and other staff are always on hand to ensure your every whim is attended to here. From keeping fires stoked to ensuring every drink is topped up, you won’t have to lift a finger.
Rocca Penthouse is located approx. 400m from the shops and ski lift. There is a bus stop just 50m away, though an in-resort driver service is offered during your stay.
The nearest airports are Chambery, just under 2 hours drive and Geneva and Lyon, both of which are approximately 3 hours away.

At Rocca Penthouse, food is taken seriously. You’ll be looked after by a private chef who will be in touch with you prior to your stay to discuss menus for the week.
The menus tend towards the light and fresh, using interesting ingredients and creative techniques, but what you eat is entirely up to you. Whether your group prefers comfort food on the sofa or gourmet vegan dishes every night, you have only to ask.
Breakfast is served each morning, with cooked dishes such as poached egg and avocado on toast, through to good old bacon sandwiches, as well as healthier options such as Greek yoghurt with compote and puffed quinoa. When you return from the snow, an afternoon tea of homemade cakes and bakes, as well as savoury options such as charcuterie platters are spread out to welcome you home.
On five evenings, your chef will prepare a gourmet evening meal: interesting and tasty starters to whet your appetite, delicious mains, from miso red mullet to lamb shank pappardelle, and a range of tempting desserts for every palate.
Wine lists are carefully selected to match your menus and your chef will be happy to make selections to match menus. There’s also an in-resort fine-wine supplier, so the host can often source any favourite bottle you request in advance. On one evening, your chalet host and chef organise a champagne and canapé reception, which lots of people enjoy on their first night, but is also a lovely way to round off your week or celebrate a special occasion.
On your chef’s nights off, the staff will be happy to arrange restaurant bookings for you. Val d’Isere now has two Michelin-starred restaurants so you’ll never be short of somewhere for a fabulous meal.
