Time spent at Villa Gelso is all about laid-back living with a big hit of style, too. In Tuscany, this beautiful and thoughtfully restored farmhouse, and annex, is the perfect Tuscan villa for a large group, offering plenty of room for everyone to find their own space as well as to gather together with friends.
You’ll wake each morning to a delicious breakfast to set you up for the day, whether you’re off adventuring or simply lounging in the grounds of Villa Gelso, taking in your surroundings. The smell of Italian coffee drifting up the stairs is the only thing guaranteed to wake you from your slumber in the villa’s super-comfy beds. Enjoy breakfasting out on the glorious terrace, with panoramic views over the Tuscan countryside.
As well as the seven bedrooms in the main villa, Villa Gelso also includes Cottage Gelso, which includes another three bedrooms and additional living spaces, allowing the property to accommodate up to 20 people. During the low and mid-season Villa Gelso can be rented as a minimum of five bedrooms for smaller groups.
The main living areas have an eclectic style with nods to the period of the original building, plenty of antique furniture and artworks but also a fresh, modern feel. On the ground floor, all the rooms open out onto the terrace. There’s a huge living space, split up by archways and cosy nooks; a large dining space for you to enjoy relaxed meals long into the evening; and a well-equipped kitchen you are welcome to experiment in, too. Upstairs, there’s a further living room, so there’s always space for everyone to relax.
On warm days, there’s nowhere like the cool of Villa Gelso, with its terracotta floors and air conditioning on the upper levels, but there’s nothing like making the most of the Tuscan sun either. The stunning gardens include a peaceful swimming pool area, where you can get a few lengths in, splash idly, or read a book at the water’s edge. Al fresco living and dining spaces mean you can spend all day outside if you wish to.
While there’s plenty of peace and privacy to enjoy, as guests of Villa Gelso, you’re also part of the prestigious Viesca Toscana estate, which means you’ll always have staff on hand to look after you. Whether you want them to book days out, a table at the estate’s restaurant or other activities, there’s plenty to do from wine tastings to tennis lessons, cooking classes to cycling. You’ll also have access to the Spa La Corte for the gym, sauna and beauty rooms. So you’ll have all the benefits of a top hotel along with all the privacy of your own personal hideaway in the Tuscan hills.
This luxury villa in Tuscany, is nestled within 70 hectares of gardens, as one of six private residences on the exclusive Viesca Toscana estate. The estate is also home to several suites, an elegant restaurant and a spa, all within walking distance from the villa. There are boutique shops, 20 minutes from the villa at The Mall, one of the most well-known luxury outlets in Italy if you want to explore the local area.
If you want to include a few day trips in your stay, Florence is around 30 minutes away. Siena and Arezzo are around an hour away and Rome and Venice are also within reach via fast train from Florence.
The nearest airports are at Florence (35 mins away) and Pisa (1hr 30 mins away).
