French food and sophistication. Caribbean sun and laid-back style. What better combination could there be for a fabulous luxury villa holiday?
Lovers of designer fashion will love shopping along the streets in the main town of Gustavia on a luxury villa holiday, where stores such as Hermes and Bvlgari and art galleries nestle under the town’s pretty red roofs, which tumble down to the harbour. Here is the perfect spot for some lunch and people-watching as little boats and super yachts come and go.
St Barths is known primarily though for two things: its delicious food (a combination of the French, the creole and the freshest seafood) and its beautiful beaches. Powdery white sand meets turquoise waters, wherever you turn. You are thoroughly spoilt for choice when staying at a luxury villa in St Barths. The waters at Grand Cul de Sac are probably the best for watersports – everything from kite surfing to kayaking. For a more leisurely sea and sand experience, Flamands offers stunning views and even a bit of shade, too.
The best time to visit St. Barths is from December to June when temperatures are high and the rainy season is at bay. The rainy season runs from July to November, with the peak time for storms being September through to the start of November.
We love Baie de St-Jean, as it ticks every box. Whether it’s snorkelling, windsurfing, people-watching or shopping in the boutique boltholes, you have it all on one of the island’s most popular bays.
Flying via St. Martin is the most common way to get to St. Barths. It is a short shuttle plane ride from St. Martin to St. Barths.
Food is considered as much a pastime here as snorkelling and surfing, and a fabulous scene it is too, with French and Asian influences mingling with Caribbean flavours. St Barths is considered to be the foodie capital of the Caribbean.
For something a little different, Orega in Gustavia offers Japanese-French fusion dishes. Or for a real Caribbean atmosphere alongside amazing food and cocktails, pay a trip to Shellona on Shell Beach.
