Vinišće might not be as well-known as some of its more famous neighbours, but that’s precisely what makes it the perfect getaway for those seeking a quieter, more authentic experience.
The best time to visit Vinišće is during the late spring to early autumn, from May to September. During this period, the weather is warm and sunny, making it ideal for enjoying the beautiful beaches and outdoor activities.
The sea is also at its most inviting, perfect for swimming and water sports. While the summer months are the most popular, early spring and autumn offer a quieter experience with milder temperatures, making it a great time for those seeking a truly tranquil escape.
We love the tranquillity of Vinišće as the village has retained its authentic charm. Its narrow streets are lined with traditional stone houses, and the locals are friendly and welcoming. It’s the kind of place where you can immerse yourself in the local culture and experience the true essence of Croatia.
Vinišće is a small village, so doesn’t have a large selection of restaurants, but there are a handful of low-key cafes.
A 30-minute drive will bring you to Trogir which is oozing charm and has a large selection of great eateries.
If you’re arriving by air, the closest major airport is Split Airport, which is approximately 20 kilometres away. From there, you can rent a car, take a taxi, or use a shuttle service to reach Vinišće. The scenic coastal drive from Split to Vinišće is about a 30-40 minute journey, making it an enjoyable way to soak in the stunning Adriatic views.
Additionally, if you’re travelling by road, Vinišće is accessible by car from other Croatian cities. The village’s proximity to the Adriatic Highway makes it easily reachable and a great starting point for exploring the beautiful Dalmatian coast.
For the more active traveller, Vinišće offers a range of water sports, including snorkelling, scuba diving, and kayaking. The clear waters and underwater landscapes make for fantastic underwater adventures.
While Vinišće is a tranquil oasis, it’s also conveniently located for day trips to some of Croatia’s most famous destinations. You can easily visit nearby Trogir, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with its beautiful and charming maze of narrow alleyways and charming piazzas, or venture a bit further to explore the historic city of Split.
